Welcome to Echoes of Serenity.

You are about to listen to a sleep story for adults.

It is meant to help you relax so that you can fall asleep more easily.

Make sure you listen to this story in a safe and quiet environment.

I wish you pleasant magical dreams.

This cool spring morning you get out of bed.

Outside you hear a soft rain falling.

And when you open the curtains,

You see the verdant green grass and colorful flowers.

Nature could certainly use this fresh drizzle.

You put on your clothes and head for the kitchen.

Your dog Felix welcomes you enthusiastically and you take the time to cuddle with him.

You press your face into his fur.

It feels soft as velvet.

Next you prepare your breakfast,

Just the things you like.

Maybe toast with jelly or a nice warm boiled egg.

You open the window to let in some fresh air.

And you don't forget your furry friend.

You give him some food as well.

Then you sit down and enjoy your breakfast.

But soon it's time to head to the castle.

Luckily Felix can come along.

You open the front door and step outside,

Where the soft drizzle makes you shiver a little.

The clouds hang low and seem to kiss the low hills around you.

You take a deep breath and you take in the smell of the wet soil,

Green leaves and the sweet scent of the roses that grow next to your cottage.

You take another deep breath and slowly breathe out.

As you feel your feet on the path,

You breathe in again.

The cool fresh air nurtures your body.

You walk slowly through your garden,

Greeting the sunflowers,

The violets and the daisies.

Every flower is your friend and you appreciate each of their colors and scents.

You open the green wooden gate and step on the gravel path that leads to Emberfall Academy.

In the distance you can see the looming castle walls.

It's not an elegant building,

But it radiates coziness with its warmly lit windows.

Slowly and mindfully you walk along the path.

Your dog takes the opportunity to run and play in the grass.

It's a short walk along a little brook and under beautiful oak trees.

When you cross the wooden bridge,

You pause a moment to admire the crystal clear water that dances over the rocks and stones.

After a little while you get closer to the castle.

The many towers reach out to the sky.

You always muse over how old this immense structure is.

Nobody really knows.

Its origins are lost in myth and magic,

But it's at least 1500 years old.

There are many hallways,

Rooms,

Halls,

A giant kitchen and there is an inner courtyard with ancient trees.

There are old and worn stairs spiraling up into the towers.

Many parts of the castle are in use,

But some are not.

And there are parts of the castle that seem to change over time.

Rooms disappear and hallways change direction.

Some believe Amberfall Academy might be a living being.

It certainly feels that way to you.

You enter through one of the smaller doors and finally step out of the ring.

Your dog shakes the drops of his fur.

You sigh with contentment and take off your wet cloak.

It's time to go to your classroom where you will teach your class of six-year-olds magic.

It's the best job in the world.

Phoenix walks beside you and you can hear his nails tick on the floor.

It's still quiet in the hallways while it's still early.

You love this moment of the day when the castle is welcoming and warm,

But it feels like right now it's there just for you.

You turn right,

Putting your hand on the ancient wall next to you.

Feeling its coolness and sturdiness.

Every little nook and cranny tells a story.

What things did this wall see?

What did it hear?

This stone must be drenched in magic.

It saw powerful wizards once pass by.

A sprite floating through the hallway.

Little children practicing their magic spells.

There is a spiral staircase just in front of you.

Many of the steps look a little dented.

Worn out from all the feet that stepped on them.

You join all those people who went before you and climb the stairs.

It's quite a long walk,

But luckily you're used to it by now.

When you get to the third floor,

You turn into another hallway.

Lit by soft yellow magic lights that float near the ceiling.

There's a dark blue carpet on the floor and tapestries and paintings on the walls.

You can see that they come alive when you pass.

When you stop to admire a painting of a beautiful landscape where cows are grazing and a bunny hops by,

You suddenly hear soft footsteps behind you.

When you turn around,

You see a glimpse of a little goblin man rush through the hallway.

He's very fast,

But you noticed how he entered a classroom further down the hall.

They're naughty little rascals,

But usually they don't bother you that much.

You proceed to walk through your classroom at the end of the hallway.

You smile when you see a rainbow taking shape in front of you.

The castle has its own emotional weather,

As you call it.

Some people say it's just the magical atmosphere,

But you think it reflects how the castle feels.

Sometimes a hallway gets very cold.

Other times you have to walk through a little rainstorm or you see some magical fire.

It's one of the reasons you think Amberfall Castle is alive.

You open the door to the classroom with a large bronze key.

You always feel happy when you enter this space.

It's a circular room,

Spacious and with beautiful arched windows that look out over the hills.

You can either choose to turn on the bright round magical lights that are mounted on the walls and in the center of the ceiling,

Or activate some smaller soft lights that float through the room.

You choose the latter.

The little chairs and desks are scattered all around the circular space.

You make sure they're far enough apart because the children will be practicing levitation today.

You love teaching the small ones.

They're still so happy to explore their magical abilities.

They all were born with powers,

But they still have to learn to control them,

And that takes a lot of time and practice.

But you're there to help them.

You hear more sounds from the hallways now.

The happy voices of children,

Footsteps,

And also the smells from the kitchen where they start preparing the meals.

The castle comes to life.

It won't be long before the first children will come in.

You make sure everything is ready for class.

Your own magic wand is lying on your desk.

It's cream-colored,

With elegant dark brown patterns and symbols.

Some wands are long,

Brightly colored,

And laced with magical cores and handles.

But yours is simple,

Yet has its own power.

It suits you.

The first children arrive,

And you greet them all on their level.

All the children find their seats,

And it doesn't take long before they're all there.

Welcome,

Children.

We're going to practice levitation today.

You explain the basics,

Which motions to make,

And how to focus your mind.

Then you ask,

Who thinks they can already do this?

One of the boys immediately raises his hand.

It was little Robin,

Who always wanted to be the first,

And was also very brave.

You invite him to stand up and put a feather on his desk.

Okay,

Robin,

Here's a feather.

Use your wand and try to make it float.

Remember what I said.

Focus on the feather,

And don't let anything else come into your mind.

Make the right motion with your wand.

A circle,

A pointing motion,

And then upwards.

And say the spell for levitation out loud.

When they would be proficient with magic,

Saying a spell out loud wouldn't be necessary,

But now it still was.

Robin stands next to his desk.

He frowns,

Sticks out his wand,

And waves it aggressively at the feather.

While saying the magic words,

Nothing happens.

You look around and all the other kids are staring intently at Robin.

They all feel his disappointment.

You kneel next to the little boy and adjust his wand.

Don't squeeze it so hard,

Robin.

It's not a sword.

The magic needs to flow through you.

And if you squeeze real hard,

It can't.

Keep your arm and hand relaxed if you can.

You get up and ask him to try again.

Robin waves his wand again,

More supple now.

But he stumbles over the spell,

And the feather stays still on the desk.

You knew it was going to take some time.

That was a really good try,

Robin.

Let's all go and try to levitate a feather.

You go around the classroom and give every child a feather.

Some are white,

Others are brown,

Red or blue.

You put them carefully on the desks and give the children the instructions again.

Then you turn to your own desk,

Where a white feather is lying.

You show them the movement real slow and pronounce the incantation.

It goes effortlessly.

The feather floats up from the desk and you make it hover a couple of feet above the surface.

It's not something the children have never seen before,

But now they have to do it themselves.

Soon the room is filled with the voices of your students.

Little arms are waving,

Chairs scrape over the floor.

Sometimes a happy yelp when someone succeeds.

After a while you notice that almost all of them can make the feather float up,

Even if only a tiny bit.

You remember how you yourself practiced levitation.

It was one of the easiest things to master.

Still,

Controlling it is quite difficult.

That is why there are quite a lot of feathers floating softly around the room or hanging against the ceiling.

It is so much fun to see the children learning and getting a feeling for how magic flows through them.

You quickly go to the ones that need a little more help.

You lift Carly's arm a little higher,

Help John pronounce the magic words better and explain to Yala she needs a bit more patience in her movements.

Magic seems easy,

But it really isn't.

Time passes by quickly and before you know it,

It's time for another magic lesson with older children.

Your specialization is levitation and there are many applications for it.

From the art of moving big objects across a room to transporting objects across longer distances and helping build structures with the help of levitation.

You like explaining to the children all that comes with this kind of magic.

When it's time for lunch,

You enjoy some food with your colleagues in the courtyard.

After the dreary morning,

The sun has come out and it's quite pleasant to sit outside.

A very ancient tree is standing in the middle of the space,

Which automatically draws all the attention to it.

It's majestic and many people see it as the heart of Amberfall Academy.

All the wizards and witches take very good care of it.

Last fall,

When an autumn storm raged over the castle,

You all took turns casting a protective spell over the yard to help and protect the tree from the powerful winds.

After you eat your lunch,

You stroll across the yard and take the time to enjoy the peace and quiet of the place.

The sun feels warm on your face and you smile when you notice the small buds of emerging flowers on the rose bush and the blossoms in the pear trees.

You long for the longer days of summer,

Filled with sunshine and lush nature.

You have one more class to teach today and you go back to the classroom to prepare.

It is a history class.

All the teachers teach their specialization in magic,

But the basics also have to be taught,

Like magical history,

Social studies,

How magic fits in society and psychology.

You love history,

So you volunteered to teach this subject.

When all the children have arrived,

You delve into the Middle Ages,

When magic was thriving with powerful wizards like Merlin,

Joan of Arc and later Leonardo da Vinci.

You use your magic to bring history to life in beautiful three-dimensional images that float above your desk.

You aren't even that good in this form of magic,

But the children are mesmerized.

At the end of the afternoon,

The class is dismissed.

You start packing your bag and you turn off all the lights.

You look out of the arched windows.

The view is amazing.

You are high up on the fourth floor,

In one of the towers.

A landscape lit by the low-standing sun with rolling hills covered by forests is stretching out before you.

Your eyes search for your little cottage and find it close by the edge of the forest.

You see the small village of Emberville,

A little further down the road.

Like a precious,

Colorful jewel,

It is embedded between the hills.

With its pastel-colored houses,

The long and winding street full of magic shops and the beautiful,

Imposing old library.

Suddenly,

Phoenix pushes the wet nose in your hand,

Reminding you it's time to go home.

You smile,

Give him some pets and grab your bag.

Moments later,

You walk through the halls,

Thinking about the day.

It was a good day,

But you feel tired.

You always give everything in your lessons,

And no matter how much fun you have,

It takes a lot of energy.

You long for a hot bath.

You're stretching out on the couch with a good book,

Some candles,

Maybe a hot cup of tea.

You didn't really pay attention to where you were going,

But suddenly you realize you were supposed to be at the exit by now.

Where are you?

You suddenly notice you aren't in a familiar part of the castle.

You could have sworn you took the stairs and turned to the right in the hallway.

But on the walls are some very old tapestries,

And they don't look familiar.

It can happen,

You think,

With a castle that sometimes changes its layout.

Is there something you're trying to tell me?

You whisper.

The hallway is well lit with some glowing lights,

And you don't feel uneasy.

You keep on walking.

On the walls you see faded tapestries of mages and crones of days past.

They motion you to go on,

Follow the hallway.

On your right,

Suddenly,

You see a beautiful wooden door with carvings of vines,

Leaves and little bunnies and deer.

You feel this is where the castle wants you to go.

You see a large iron ring to open the door.

You put your hand on it and feel its cool,

Heavy weight.

You turn the ring and the heavy door swings open.

A cool draught chills your face.

Behind the door the room is dimly lit,

Wrapped in a gentle twilight glow.

But then thousands of small magic lights on the ceiling come to life,

Emitting a soft warm light.

The room is clearly very old,

And no wizard or witch has been here for centuries.

However,

Magic had made sure there is no dust nor spider webs or other signs of decay.

The floor is covered with an exquisite mosaic of blue,

White and golden tiles.

You see flowers,

Leaves,

Lakes and forests in intricate patterns.

At the heart of the chamber is a sunken pool,

Its surface still and shimmering.

A low wall frames it,

With steps descending into the welcoming water.

There are some candles on the wall that suddenly come to life.

As soon as the cold draught had faded away,

You felt the temperature of the room rise,

Until it was pleasantly warm.

You step inside.

Had you not just thought about how you would love to take a bath?

Amberfall Castle had certainly picked up your longing thoughts.

You take off your coat.

Suddenly,

Next to the bath,

A big fluffy cushion materializes,

Clearly meant for Phoenix.

Next to it are a bowl of water and one with food.

The castle has thought of everything.

You slowly approach the bath.

Warm steam rises gently from the water,

Carrying a sense of calm.

The peaceful silence soon envelops you and you crave to step into the water.

You step over the low wall onto the first stair.

The water is scented,

Your favorite scent,

Warm and inviting.

It rises up to you.

Slowly,

You descend one step,

Feeling the warm water flowing over your ankles.

Another step down,

The water rises up to your thighs.

Then,

The last step.

The water is crystal clear,

Caressing your skin and making you feel safe and comfortable.

The steps invite you to sit,

So you do.

The water comes exactly up to your chin.

As you lean back into the soothing warmth,

Your gaze drifts upward.

You wanted to close your eyes,

But you are mesmerized by what you see.

The ceiling is replaced by a view of the night sky,

Where the Milky Way is stretching out above you.

Twinkling stars and a velvety dark sky span above you.

Close to the horizon,

A golden moon is illuminating this magical room.

Your eyes keep taking in this spectacular view.

It is all so soothing,

The stars,

The water and the candles standing next to you.

You feel safe and taken care of.

There is nothing else to do but to relax.

The warmth of the water soothes your muscles and nerves.

Every part of your body feels soft and relaxed.

You lean back and look out over the water,

Completely calm and at ease.

You see vapor rising from the water.

It swirls around and rises slowly.

The calm movements of the mist are fascinating.

You see forms take shape in the haze,

Slowly and mesmerizing.

You can't help but smile.

The vapor takes on a familiar shape.

It's Phoenix.

You see the cloudy shape of your dog running happily through the forest.

He sniffs the flowers and bounces between the trees.

A little while later,

The running dog disappears as the image dissolves.

Something else takes shape.

You see your cozy cottage appear.

Little flowers manifest in the mist,

As are the gate and the gnarled willow tree next to the house.

As you take in these peaceful scenes,

A sense of deep rest settles over you,

And your body feels increasingly heavy.

You feel so safe and peaceful in the warm water.

The soft rippling of the water envelops you,

And as the image of the cottage dissolves once again,

You look up at the night sky once more.

You feel all your thoughts and worries dissolve.

For now,

You stay in the gentle water,

Resting in its calm embrace.

You float in stillness,

The world outside forgotten,

Until only warmth,

Silence and starlight remain.
