I wanted to offer you guys a meditation,
Relaxation,
Visualization script today with me,
Dr.
Jardina.
Let's begin with an Einstein quote.
Please apply to your gender as appropriate.
He said,
A human being is part of a whole called by us the universe,
A part limited in time and space.
He experiences himself,
His thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest,
A kind of optical delusion of his consciousness.
This delusion is a kind of prison for us,
Restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us.
Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison.
By widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty.
Or consider this lovely writing from the show Midnight Mass and its creator,
Mike Flanagan.
Interpret the references to God at your comfort level,
But the overall message is one of perspective.
A main character in the show nearing her demise states,
I remember I am energy,
Not memory,
Not self.
My name,
My personality,
My choices all came after me.
I was before them and I will be after and everything else is pictures picked up along the way.
Fleeting little dreamlets printed on the tissue of my dying brain and I am the lightning that jumps between.
I am the energy firing the neurons and I'm returning just by remembering I'm returning home.
It's like a drop of water falling back into the ocean of which it's always been a part.
All things a part,
All of us a part.
You me and my little girl and my mother and my father,
Everyone who's ever been,
Every plant,
Every animal,
Every atom,
Every star,
Every galaxy,
All of it.
More galaxies in the universe than grains of sand on the beach and that's what we're talking about when we say God,
The one,
The cosmos and its infinite dreams.
We are the cosmos dreaming of itself.
It's simply a dream that I think is my life every time.
With these quotes to set a tone and intention,
I invite you to tune in.
Close your eyes.
Get into a restful posture.
While my voice guides,
Allow your attention to focus elsewhere,
With intention.
Do your eyelids feel heavy?
Does your body ache?
Are your muscles tense?
Notice the body.
Hear its messages.
Now notice your breath.
Is it short and rapid?
Deep and slow?
Through the nose or the mouth?
Now turn to thoughts.
Do they spin as you listen,
Multitasking and multiplying?
Are you at war with your mind?
Now,
What if none of that mattered?
You are not your body.
You are not your breath.
You are not your thoughts.
You are not your mind.
Have you forgotten who you are?
What you are?
You are a human being.
Not a human doing,
Thinking,
Earning,
Pleasing or appeasing.
Being.
Existing.
This is your purpose.
You are enough in that simple act.
The breath,
The attention and intention,
Your soul piloting the avatar of your body.
No ego.
No wins or losses.
Take solace.
Remember you are enough.
You are exactly what was intended.
You are as you are meant to be.
You are not meant to be like others because you are uniquely you.
Being you is essential to the part you play in the whole.
The bigger sense of humanity and the universe.
Thank your body for what it offers.
Thank God,
Biology,
The universe for making you,
You.
Thank your younger self for getting you to where you are now.
Thank those who loved and supported you.
Who remind you of your inner glow.
Let go of expectations.
Drop the worries away.
No doing.
Just being.
Breathing.
Pulsating with your inner power.
Modern humans don't appreciate the luxury many of us have.
You can be grateful to not have to live in survival mode all the time.
Relish in the calm between the storms.
Take time to rest because your ancestors or your own effort have put you in a position such that in this moment you don't have to fight or flee.
You can just be.
You are safe.
Now,
When you think of peace or calm or safe,
What comes to mind?
Is it another person who makes you feel seen and loved?
Is it a place away from people where you feel secure and walled off?
Is it nature?
A joyful memory of a fun time?
For some,
Your idea of peace or safety or happiness may be grandiose.
And for others,
It may be exceedingly simple.
The answer is idiosyncratic to you and your history,
As well as the way you interpret my words.
But it's not so much about the image or the memory or the ideal.
So much is the feeling.
Wherever,
Whoever,
Whatever makes you feel peace and stillness and calm.
Use images and memories and thoughts to bring your conscious self to that place right now.
And sometimes it's not another person or another place,
But going inward to your own self.
If you have been kind to you.
Can you be kind to you?
Can you love you as you deserve to be loved?
By doing this meditation script with me,
You are showing yourself some self-compassion and love.
You are taking time to tune into your needs.
Now take this feeling of peace with you into what you do next.
Don't leap to action.
Ease in.
Like slipping into a hot tub.
It's not a race.
It's all in due time.
Slow and steady wins the race.
Sometimes patience is the effort required more than hustle or hurry.
Be willing to see that not doing may be the best course of action.
Sitting with it.
Sitting with yourself.
Or another human being.
Thank you for letting me join you in this moment.
Be well.
