Good morning.
This is Darcy Jones,
Licensed clinical social worker and somatic experiencing practitioner.
I am so glad you're here waking up with me today.
Let's take a few minutes to get into a comfortable seated position.
Leaning back into your chair or sofa and letting your feet rest on the ground.
Making any micro-movements toward increased comfort,
And noticing how it is you actually recognize when you feel comfort in your body.
What signals from your body.
Inform you of comfort.
What tells you when you are feeling comfortable?
And just allowing the sensation to be there.
Following it.
You might notice what happens next.
And when you're ready.
.
.
Noticing your feet on the floor.
Are you able to feel the way that the floor actually supports and holds your feet?
If it is difficult to feel,
You might gently press your feet into the floor and notice the way the muscles in the leg activate.
Release this.
And notice what sensations are in the legs.
They might feel heavy,
They might feel light.
You might notice a sense of flow in the legs that feels like gentle shaking,
Trembling,
Tingling.
Warmth or coolness.
Or just a sense of flow.
Take some time now to allow awareness of any sensation in the legs to be there.
Not making any judgment.
Take all the time you need here.
When you feel ready.
You might notice where the chair actually supports you the most.
Underneath your pelvis,
Behind your back.
Lower back,
Upper back,
Middle of the back.
You might notice how it feels to allow the literal feeling of being supported in gravity by that chair.
You might notice the way muscles start to release or energy starts to flow.
Really take all the time you need here.
And if,
Like many of us,
You are actually experiencing anything uncomfortable,
Just allowing your attention to notice this.
And then shift to where you might feel the most comfort or even a neutral sensation.
Sometimes the mind might be racing or active.
If this is true,
Just allow it.
Notice it.
It can be like the way when you shake a snow globe that's been placed onto a table.
The pieces swirl and swirl and swirl,
Then start to slow.
But they're still swirling.
Then one by one,
Those pieces start to fall and settle onto the bottom.
Until just a last few pieces start to continue to swirl.
Before they too land ever so gently on the bottom and into stillness.
Resting here.
Taking all the time you need.
You might notice sensations like expansion,
Warmth,
A softness inside the body somewhere.
You might notice muscles starting to let go.
You might notice you can follow sensations from one to the next.
And again,
If anything feels like too much,
Opening the eyes,
You can look around the room.
And if what you're feeling feels manageable,
Just staying with it.
And when you're ready,
Finding a landing place.
You might start to stir.
You might allow the body to stretch and begin to move.
Letting the eyes open if they're closed.
Letting the arms stretch up over your head,
Turning the head side to side.
And gently transitioning into this day.
I want to thank you for joining me here today.
This is Darcy Jones.
Please have a wonderful and grounded day.
