This guided meditation is designed to help us learn to observe thoughts and separate us from the idea that our thoughts control us. We are not our thoughts. By creating a small distance between us and the thoughts that are happening to us we take our power back and gain more control over the wandering mind.

Close your eyes.

Begin to notice the rise and fall of your belly.

Starting to surrender.

Letting go of everything that led up to this moment.

You are here now.

There is nowhere else you have to be.

There is nothing outside of this moment right here,

Right now.

Allowing yourself to let go.

Beginning to notice your thoughts.

Watching how they come and go.

Letting them happen.

No need to judge.

No need to push the thoughts away.

Just letting them be there and witnessing them.

You are not your thoughts.

You get to choose which thoughts you interact with and which thoughts get to come.

We are simply noticing.

If you find yourself engaging,

That is okay.

Once you are aware that you have given yourself to a thought,

Gently turn your focus to the breath.

Left with only sound as you continue to observe.

Your work for the remainder of this meditation is to allow the thoughts to come and go.

If you find yourself engaging with a thought,

Return to the breath.
