Compassion - This Is Me

Becoming a mother was wonderful, but also so very consuming and difficult for me. A part of me went missing, something just didn't feel right. It took me a few years to figure it out. This poem is an expression of that journey.

Do you think this is me,

What you see?

Do you think I believe the world revolves around me?

On the contrary,

Do you think this is the life I want to live,

Struggling with the everyday,

With nothing left to give?

On the contrary,

Let me make some things clear.

I pray you'll hear me.

The fire that burns inside my soul is fueled by giving hearts a home,

A safe place and space to ease their minds to bring relief in whatever sighs in troubled times.

My passion is love in action,

Compassion,

The hands,

The feet,

To anyone in need.

Hope,

Being hope,

Showing hope,

Without hope you may have breath,

But are you really breathing,

Being,

Thriving,

Not just surviving?

Hope is a light,

With hope you could be blind but still have sight.

Hope gives might,

Enough to muster up the courage to keep fighting the good fight,

Fighting for life.

This is the drive that keeps me alive.

Compassion.

This is me.

This is who I was created to be.
