And place your body into a comfortable position.
Just focus on your breathing.
You don't have to worry about your day.
Just breathe.
Try to allow your breath come through your nose.
Take your attention to your base chakra.
Use your imagination.
Allow yourself to grow roots into the ground.
Down through your building and into the earth.
Imagine the energy of the earth flowing up towards you.
And just breathe.
And just stay with this image of yourself rooted into the earth.
Imagine a wooden door close to you.
It's old and it has carvings on it that have come through the ages.
Just stay in front of the door for a moment and drink it in.
Now open the door and move through into a forest.
On either side of the path are tall oak trees,
Guarding you and protecting you in this safe place.
Take your time to imagine the smells and the sounds of this forest.
Allow yourself to walk the path in front of you.
And move through the trees to the clearing that you see up ahead.
And the clearing is full of green soft grass.
And in the middle there's a small campfire.
An old lady is tending the fire with a stick.
And she beckons you forward.
Feel your feet on the grass as you cross the clearing to sit beside her.
And feel the heat from the fire.
Know that you are welcome.
She has been waiting for you.
Take your time to feel her soothing presence.
And allow yourself to look into her old but gentle eyes.
She is the first of many.
She is the first of your line who said yes.
Yes to life and yes to birth.
And as you look into your eyes you recall your mother.
And become aware of her mother and of her mother before her.
All the way back through time each woman who said yes to the birth of a child.
Who would give birth to a child.
Who would give birth to you.
And allow yourself a moment of gratitude for the women who've come before you who said yes.
And allow yourself to feel whatever feelings that wakes up in you.
And take your time and stay with this old ancestor in this clearing in the forest beside the fire.
Allow yourself to find a space of gratitude for all the yeses that have preceded you.
And soon you realize it's time to go.
Thank the old lady for her presence and for her hospitality.
And walk gently back through the sacred clearing to the edge of the forest.
Allow yourself to look back and see her beside the fire.
Make your way gently through the forest.
Notice any differences between your journey there and your journey back.
Notice how the light might be different in the time of day.
Or any feelings that you might have.
Come slowly back to the beginning of the path with the oak trees guarding the wooden door.
And just keep that feeling of the forest within you as you walk through the door and turn and gently close it behind you.
And as you breathe gently,
Become conscious of the image of your roots into the earth.
Slowly and gently retract them.
Bringing them back into your base chakra.
And gently become aware of where you are and how you're feeling.
When you're ready,
Just open your eyes.
And just keep that feeling of the forest within you.
