This is a short guided meditation,
A journey to understand that love is created from within and not from an external source.
Let your body settle in your seat,
A chair or perhaps in Shavasana,
Lying down.
Relax all the muscles in your face and jaw.
Relax your throat.
Bring your attention to your breath.
Explore its qualities.
Where do you feel your breath in your body?
Notice a gentle expansion on the inhale and a softening on the exhale.
Explore the rhythm of each breath,
Following it from the beginning middle and end.
When thoughts arise,
Which is completely normal,
It can be helpful to acknowledge it by saying internally,
Thought.
Then return your attention to your breath and allow that thought to pass.
We are going to go through a short meditation now that can help us take a moment to slow down and bring ourselves into a more loving and positive space.
If you haven't already,
Gently close your eyes.
Take a slow deep inhale,
A slow deep exhale.
Do this one more time,
Always bringing your attention to your breath,
Noticing the body gently expand and soften with each breath.
Call into your mind someone you love.
This could be a family member,
A friend,
A partner,
Or maybe even a pet.
Think about a memory when you felt love for them.
What are they doing?
How do they look?
Let yourself feel love for this person or this pet.
Feel the joy and connection you have with them,
Noticing where you may be able to feel it most in your body.
Allow yourself to open up to this feeling.
Once you are fully present with your feeling of love,
Let go of the thought of the person or the pet.
Focus entirely on the feeling now,
Just that feeling of love.
Allow yourself to rest in it.
Feel the energy of love within your body and within your heart.
This love will radiate throughout the body with each inhale and with each exhale.
Feel yourself as love.
Notice how the sensation of love and joy remain even after you let go of the idea of the person or the pet inspiring it.
Your love originates from within.
It is not dependent on anything outside of you.
Stay in this meditative relaxation state.
Stay here for as long as you wish and feel comfortable doing so.
When you are ready,
Softly open your eyelids.
Allow the light to come back to your eyes softly and bring your attention back to your surroundings.
Namaste.
