The intention of this meditation is to connect with your heart,
The true essence of who you are.
We live in a world that values the head over the heart.
And when we live in the head for too long,
We become disconnected from our heart,
What matters to us in life and what we love.
The invitation to connect with the heart is an invitation to reintegrate our whole being into how we experience life.
Find a place to do this meditation that feels like a sanctuary to you.
It can be your bedroom,
A closet,
Even your car.
What's important is that you truly feel safe from the world.
It is within this container that your heart will soften and open.
As you settle into your space,
I invite you to take some gentle,
Intuitive movement.
I'll give a few suggestions,
But know that you have permission to follow your own instincts and desires,
And simply let my words float past you at any point during this meditation.
If you are seated,
Perhaps you might place your hands on your knees and rotate your torso around in a circle,
Moving your hips and their sockets.
Make sure to change directions.
You might also like to stretch your arms up to the sky,
Spreading your fingers wide as though you are feeding from the sunlight like a plant.
As you let your arms fall back down,
Perhaps you might shimmy your shoulders or do jazz hands.
You are allowed to play and have fun.
Meditation can be pleasurable and delightful if you wish.
Bring a soft smile to your cheeks and notice the effect it has on your heart.
Can you sense the smiling of your heart?
What makes your heart smile?
In the spaces between the invitations of my voice,
Whatever thoughts,
Feelings,
Emotions,
Or body sensations that arise for you are welcome.
This is an opportunity to practice giving loving attention to our body and the wisdom it contains.
Be with your experience as it makes itself known to you.
This is a time to practice connecting with our heart so that we can find it with ease in daily life.
As we continue with the meditation,
I will invite you to contemplate a few questions.
You won't have answers to all of these questions and that's okay.
Be with the answers that do come and let whatever does not resonate for you to slip away.
Who are you the most tender toward in your life?
When in your life are you the most tender with yourself?
What holds you back from being tender to yourself all of the time?
What does your heart want?
If it feels challenging to connect with your heart,
That is normal.
If we are new to the practice,
It may take time for our heart to open up.
The more you show up for your heart,
The more it will feel safe to share its longings with you.
Keep asking your heart what it wants and be non-judgmental and gentle with it as you await the answer.
What do you want me to know heart?
What have you been carrying,
Heart?
What do you want?
What do you want?
You might wish to affirm your commitment to yourself.
Say,
I love you.
I am here for you when you are ready.
I love you.
Notice if any thoughts,
Emotions,
Or sensations are arising in this moment.
What are they telling you?
Can you give them your loving attention?
Connect to the heart.
Listen to the heart.
Be tenderly with whatever your experience is.
As you tend to the heart,
Allow the emotions and sensations to flow and change.
Know that this is part of the process of the heart healing itself.
Your heart is powerful.
Your heart creates its own electricity.
It powers your whole life with its beating.
Your heart sends blood to heal every part of your body.
Thank you,
Heart.
Thank you for everything you do for me,
Heart.
I love you.
As you transition out of this meditation,
Perhaps you might like to bring a soft smile to your face once again and reconnect with what makes your heart smile.
Know that at any point in your day,
Whatever challenges arise at home or at work,
You can smile to yourself and remember the connection you have made with your heart.
Invite some movement back into your body,
Perhaps placing a loving hand on your heart.
Express gratitude to yourself for moving in the direction of your heart.
It takes courage to live in the world from the heart.
You are walking an exciting path.
Savor this moment.
Just a bit longer.
Notice how you feel after this experience.
As this meditation comes to a close,
I invite you to write down in a journal your experience and what you heard from your heart.
It is okay to write down that you heard nothing if you heard nothing.
Just keep doing this meditation.
The more you listen to the heart,
The more it will tell you.
