Aloha,
My name is Reverend Cindy Paulus and I think one of the great parts of meditation is that we can really learn to make our lives better.
And today I'm going to talk about one of the really blessed tools that we can get from meditation which is being in the light of happiness.
Happiness can be an offshoot actually from meditation.
We know when we're having a birthday of course everyone wishes us a happy birthday and happiness is one of the most wished for things in life and it's also one of the most elusive for many people.
The light of happiness comes from the blessings of being aware of our higher self and when our life's path brings satisfaction.
And when we feel that often we are feeling fulfilled and we're also aware that our happiness is something that can be lasting when we have that inner connection.
And we also learn in time that happiness is not based on things that we get.
I was raised in Beverly Hills and so many people had more than they could ever imagine just blessings,
Galore.
But it didn't make them happy and it's really sad when you see people who've achieved everything they could ever want in life and they're still not happy.
But that happens.
And the inner need for love and light will keep people searching for that satisfaction they really need.
So the true gift of happiness can be found when you find something that is really of value and you can find fulfillment.
There's been many great quotes on happiness of course.
Abraham Lincoln said,
Folks are usually about as happy as they make their minds up to be.
And I love that quote because you know what?
A lot of people never make up their minds that they want to be happy.
And the Dalai Lama,
His Holiness said happiness is not something ready made.
It comes from your own actions.
When I googled happiness just to see what some of the happiest places on earth were,
I thought it was very funny that Disneyland came up as the happiest place on earth.
And it was very quickly followed by many stories about why Disneyland is not the happiest place on earth.
But let's go down some things that might make you happy and then we're going to do a talk in meditation where you can explore how you can find that inner bliss and bring it into your life.
Now many people really have found that gratitude is one of the best tools you can use.
Gratitude can bring you out of depression and it makes you realize all the great blessings that you have in life.
And when you find yourself getting unhappy,
It's really valuable to really start to be grateful for what you have.
You know you have so many blessings and if you can just stop and count your blessings,
Then you really can change your state of mind.
They literally have found it can make you feel better,
It can make your body heal better.
Gratitude is a great,
Great gift and it can make you happier.
Also if you take some time to just breathe and clear your mind,
You can be attuned more to your real inner self that is there with you,
That is a happy place.
Your inner self has that place where you can be clear of your stress.
And they find that many,
Many people who are stressed out are not happy.
That can come from the place you live,
It can come from your job,
It can come from your DNA even,
Although they did say places like New Zealand and Switzerland and Denmark and Norway are very happy places.
And also they have found that many people can get happy,
And I know I do myself when you get out in nature,
Away from all of the input and distractions and just get healed by the beauty of the trees and the sky and the birds and in a natural state when you go outside nature can make you feel happy.
Studies have shown that spending time in nature will boost your mood and make you a happier person.
And a Stanford study found that just walking for 50 minutes in a park will boost your mood and improve your memory and attention.
And you know there's a miracle in a smile as well.
I want to put that in our toolbox,
A smile.
A smile can really change your mood.
A smile is contagious.
And did you know that when you smile it helps your digestion,
It helps your body?
And there's people who have practiced meditation who found that their meditation is better when they smile.
It literally changes the energy in your body.
And I'll also add to that sacred toolbox,
Spending time with friends and also doing things to help other people.
That is a really wonderful thing to add to your toolbox when you have your mind off yourself and start to help other people.
Even if you're just giving to charity,
You feel better.
You really truly feel better.
I got a notice from Insight Timer and if I get any income that comes in from any of my talks I give it back to a charity.
And Insight Timer has found a wonderful charity in Bali and I just got an email the other day that they gave money to this charity in my name which I always give back to them.
And it made me feel so good.
So even giving can help you feel better and make you feel happy.
But I want to talk about a little bit here how important meditation is.
According to Psychology Today,
Meditation is the strongest mental practice that has the power to reset your happiness,
Thus turning you into a more joyful person and literally rewiring major areas of your brain.
That can be because of reduction of stress.
It also can be the frequency in brain waves and it can be the chance that we just have to be quiet and return to our own inner natural state which can be very happy.
And there was a study that they did,
A Swedish study found that practicing mindfulness was strongly related to a positive state of mind and reduced stress.
And even school children found that when they practiced meditation and mindfulness they felt better.
So let's do some affirmations and let's go into also a state of meditation and let's go to a happy place.
I recognize that only that which is eternal is worth recognizing for that love and joy it brings.
And I recognize my oneness with eternal consciousness is my lasting happiness.
I reset,
Revise,
Renew and redeem my body,
Mind and soul and make happiness possible.
I breathe this in.
I am at one with this intent.
I let go of any worry,
Doubt or fear and embrace the happiness that is here.
Thank you God and so it is.
A prayer for the magic of happiness.
Lord help me to say yes to the magic of happiness as it sings its mystic tune.
For there is a magical wind calling with the light of a higher truth.
And drape it in veils of mystery that hypnotize the mind to be aware of the power of the connections of the universal need for happiness.
For there is magic in the presence of happiness.
And it's alive in the joy of the colors of the rainbow.
And there are circles of cosmic energy that draw you to be aligned.
And let this love,
This joy show.
There is an energy that brings you to the movie of life and you have a role and an interaction and you can feel that you're part here with the earth and the moon and the light and the stage of life.
There is that power to be happy.
Do you hear that calling as the wind speaks with such a message?
As the full moon is eclipsed and you are in the center of all this energy within and you are alive and joyful and you can say yes to the magic of happiness.
You can listen to that mystic tune and gaze and wonder at the divine beauty of the energy alive in you.
Thank you God for the beautiful life,
For this amazing energy of joy that you provide me.
Amen.
Meditation on the magic of happiness.
Take in some very deep clearing breaths.
Let all concerns go.
Just be there in that sacred space inside.
Breathe in that journey to that wonderful place that you have within your soul.
Breathe in light.
Breathe out thankfulness.
Breathe in joy and breathe out all of the wonderful things that joy brings to your body.
Breathe in your true identity which is the joy there in your soul.
Feel that joy in the depths of your being and let it grow.
Let it grow.
Hear it calling to you across the veils of time.
Feel it drawing you into the precious joy beyond your mind.
Just be that happiness.
Be that joy.
Allow yourself to be it right now and be in the presence of that smile and outline of the sacred seal of God reflected upon your own soul.
Feel that bliss of light eternal that guides you through that long,
Long night.
And remember the promise of love that when all is left is faith,
The guardian angels will come out to reach you and bring you to that joy whatever it takes to reveal that redeeming love that makes all things all right.
Breathe in that place of completeness.
Be in that beautiful energy.
Let God's pure love surround you and be your very breath of being.
This is your purpose and the reason you are here.
Allow yourself right now to understand and to reveal the way that you can be your true identity,
A joyful being,
A messenger of light that is possible even through the longest night.
Dwell in this joy and let it reverberate throughout every single cell of your body.
Let it encircle you,
Bring you that light and that love that you are.
Breathe it in.
Be it.
Become happy.
Be joyful.
Accept this and believe it and so it is.

Cindy is so eloquent and her words flow so beautifully straight to ny soul. On tough days I find when I listen to one of her talks/meditations, it gives me the boost I need to stay on course. She is a lighthouse for me.
