Today's meditation will focus on the new moon.

You can use this meditation during the new moon or any time when you need some space to go inward and create a new beginning for yourself.

This meditation is for anyone who wants to draw inspiration and permission from the moon regardless of gender identity or expression.

Close your eyes if that feels okay for you.

Take an inhale and release the tension from your forehead.

Scrunch your eyebrows down and then release letting them come to a natural relaxed state.

Release any pressure around your eyes.

Breathe in and experience the relief of fully focusing inward giving space to your internal self free from performance free from requirement.

Unclench your teeth and move your jaw around a few times and then let it come to a natural resting place.

Breathe in through your nose and out through your nose.

Scan your body for any other tense places,

Shoulders,

Stomach,

Fingers,

Toes.

By being fully here you can bring peace into this moment.

The new moon corresponds with the season of winter.

Like winter the new moon represents a lower energy time.

A time to be more introspective and to withdraw from the world.

The new moon reminds us to embrace the shadow and to reflect and refocus while letting your intuition guide you.

It's also a time to expect less from yourself in all arenas.

Feel free to cancel social engagements,

To push deadlines and give yourself lots of space.

Just like in the winter everything lies dormant focusing on that deep inner growth while waiting to spring forth.

So it is during the new moon.

Plant the seeds at the beginning of the lunar cycle with the new moon and watch your intentions grow just as the moon grows in light little by little into the full moon.

In our culture that's so focused around productivity and output the new moon gives us permission that sometimes we have to opt out of the grind altogether.

The new moon also corresponds with the menstruation phase of the female hormonal cycle.

In some indigenous tribes there was a belief that women were powerful because of their ability to bleed without dying.

Many tribes believed that menstruating women were more spiritually in tune and intuitive and thus tribal elders would call upon them for advice,

Insight or spiritual guidance.

If you are someone who doesn't experience a monthly cycle you can still choose to start a monthly rhythm to sync with the new moon and follow the moon from there.

The new moon is a great time to use as the beginning of your month in terms of setting your spiritual rhythm and intentions.

You can think of it as a mini New Year once every four weeks.

The time to start again begins from a quiet intuitive place.

The new moon reminds you that you have endless opportunities to start again.

Use this new moon energy as a time to allow your intuition,

The place within you that knows,

To lead the way.

Returning to focus on the breath let's tap into this new moon energy together.

You know what to do.

What comes to the surface when you hear permission to listen to your intuition.

Picture yourself in a beautiful natural setting maybe near a body of water or in the middle of an open field.

Find yourself in a place that brings a feeling of peace,

Safety,

And relaxation.

As you take in all of the natural beauty you notice that the sun is setting.

It's the end of another day and the light slowly feeds as you breathe in and out.

You are at ease.

You notice the night sky above you now.

You're in a place where you can look up and see vibrant stars and yet you notice that it is deeply dark because it is a new moon.

The time of the month when the moon gives the least amount of light.

You are unafraid in this deeply dark place because the darkness represents your inner self.

You are safe and relaxed here and now letting go of anything weighing you down.

If it feels right return back to that intuitive thought you had earlier.

When you heard the words you know what to do.

As you breathe in this dark inner space what feels like the next right step for you.

Remember knowing what to do and acting on it are two very different things.

This space is for setting an intention and trusting that when the time comes you will be capable to take action.

You Begin to bring your awareness back to the present.

Noticing your breath.

Notice that small space in the turnaround between your inhale and your exhale and then between your exhale and your next inhale.

When you're ready slowly bring your awareness back to the present moment.

Bring gentle movement into your fingers and your toes.

Gently rolling your ankles or wrists.

Gently reawakening to this fresh start.

As you move forward in your day I offer this affirmation to you as a reminder when you need it.

I am led from my dark inner place.
