Today's practice is a quick and easy tool that you can use when you're faced with making everyday decisions and choices.
You can use this practice for large decisions or for the small minute day-to-day things that come your way.
Wherever you are,
Take a moment to get still and comfortable.
You can do this practice sitting down or standing.
Take a moment to close your eyes and breathe in through the nose if possible.
Let your out-breath flow out naturally and just focus on your breathing for a few moments.
Wonderful.
There's an ancient technique for decision making that we all have at any time under our fingertips and it is based on using the wisdom in the body.
Sometimes,
Our mind gets in the way,
We might feel frozen,
Unable to decide whether to go or whether to stay,
Whether to purchase,
Whether to abstain.
Keep breathing nice and slow.
To illustrate the technique,
You're going to ask yourself a question.
Ask yourself,
What is my name?
Notice how the answer comes easily.
Keep breathing.
Ask yourself a second question now.
Is my name fill in the blank?
And as you answer that question to yourself,
Notice if there was a subtle shift in your body.
Specifically,
Did your torso inch forward at all or at all backwards?
Let's try that again and we're looking for an ever so slight sway in your weight,
In your body weight going either forward or backward.
Forward for a yes,
Backward for a no.
Let's try it again.
Repeat your name to yourself.
My name is.
.
.
And as you answer that question,
Notice if you're leaning forward or backwards.
We're going to try this exercise again,
But this time you're going to purposely choose the wrong name.
Take a nice breath in and ask yourself,
Is my name Jonathan or Mary Lou or anything else?
And notice if your body shifts slightly back or slightly forward.
You can do this exercise regarding any subject matter at all to find out your likes and dislikes or to help you decide what to wear,
What to go or what activity you might want to be doing in any given day.
Just simply close the eyes,
Check in a little bit to get balance and ask the question,
Do I want this?
And without forcing,
Just notice which way your upper body sways.
Your heart is always leading you and you will naturally pull away for something from something that's not aligned.
And you will naturally,
Usually come forward,
Heart first to something that is.
Good luck using this technique and wishing you a beautiful rest of the day.
