Welcome to this grounding breath practice for spring energy.
Use this practice to come back to center when the fullness of growing energy feels a bit too hectic in life.
In this practice,
We'll be doing a 4-2-6-2 breath with a VU breath on the exhale.
It will look something like this.
Inhale 4,
Pause and hold 2,
Exhale making a VU sound for 6,
Pause and hold for 2.
You may wish to hold a cup of tea or a spoonful of fresh,
Raw spring honey as you breathe and let the sweetness remind you that expansion when paired with grounding can indeed be gentle.
Let's begin.
Seated or standing,
Notice your body.
Place both feet on the floor and notice the ground beneath you.
If it feels right,
Place one or both hands on your heart space.
Inhale slowly through your nose for 4 counts.
Imagine your breath expanding your capacity to meet the growing energy of the season.
Pause gently for 2 counts,
Holding on to what needs to remain.
Exhale slowly through your mouth making a VU sound for 6 counts.
Allow anything that no longer serves to release downward into the earth.
Let your shoulders soften as the breath leaves.
Pause gently for 2 counts.
Let what needs to remain to simply be.
Inhale again for 4,
Feeling the fullness of the season and your energy.
Hold for 2,
Allowing what needs to be here to be here.
Exhale VU for 6,
Settling and extending roots down into the earth's stable energy.
Pause for 2,
Being in this moment.
Inhale again for 4,
Noticing the expansive capacity that you have inside.
Hold for 2,
Just being.
Exhale VU for 6,
Letting go of anything that's no longer serving.
Pause for 2,
Being in this moment,
Present fully.
Inhale again for 4,
Expanding,
Growing,
And meeting the energy of the season.
Hold for 2,
Softening as you do.
Exhale VU for 6,
Letting go,
Releasing,
And noticing the ground beneath your feet.
Pause for 2,
Holding all that you can.
Inhale again for 4,
Embracing this energy.
Hold for 2.
Exhale VU for 6,
Settling,
Grounding,
Coming back to center.
Pause for 2.
Allow your natural rhythm of breath to return.
And as we come to a close,
Ask yourself,
What do I need to ground so I can emerge more fully in this moment or season or lifetime?
Allow the answer to surface and then go about your day meeting this grounded steady energy with the expansiveness of all that you can be.
