Welcome to your visualization meditation.
This one is all about navigating the transitions in our lives.
Transitions are often overlooked as in-between moments to rush through in order to get to the other side.
However,
Transitions are actually one of the most powerful places for contemplation,
Growth,
And space to choose how we want to navigate the changes in and around us.
Research shows that during periods of change,
The brain's uncertainty centers,
Particularly the amygdala,
Become more active,
Scanning for potential threats,
Which is why change can feel a bit uneasy for many of us,
Or even like an actual threat to our well-being.
At the same time,
Studies on neuroplasticity show us that change is also when the brain is most capable of rewiring and creating new habits and patterns,
Ones that can change the course of our lives in the most incredible ways.
So transitions can feel destabilizing sometimes,
But they're also fertile ground for expansion.
Today,
We're not here to force clarity,
We're here to learn how to move through change with steadiness and self-trust.
Like any art form,
Navigating transitions asks us for presence,
Patience,
And knowing that there's no one exact formula.
There's just stepping into a new rhythm by exploring life's timing,
Leaning into our intuition,
And being open to refining our map along the way.
Let's get started.
Find a comfortable place to sit.
Close your eyes if you'd like.
Let's take a slow breath in through the nose,
Pause gently at the top,
And exhale slowly through the mouth as you arrive in this present moment.
Once more,
Slow inhale,
Pause,
And a long,
Steady exhale as you relax your body.
Just arrive here in this moment with your transitional phase of life.
Start to bring to mind a transition you're currently navigating.
It might be bold and visible,
A career shift,
A move,
A relationship change.
Or quiet and internal,
A new identity forming,
A dream you can't ignore,
A version of you that no longer fits.
Notice what arises on a high level,
Just the title of the story,
Not all the chapters and details.
What do you feel in your body as you think about this transition?
Tightness,
Fluttering energy,
Excitement mixed with fear.
There's no wrong response,
Just notice.
Transitions are pivotal moments that can stretch us beyond the boundaries we've been living within.
High performers or overachievers like myself often want to master them,
Fix them,
Or optimize them.
Others may want to avoid them,
Delay them,
Or hope they resolve themselves.
Does any of this sound familiar?
None of these reactions to transitions are bad,
They're simply a unique piece of information in understanding yourself a little more.
Navigating a bold transition is not about speed,
It's about presence with every step along the way so that you can consciously choose the next step.
And it's okay if we take detours along the way,
That's just more information to help us get back on the path that leads us in the direction we want to head in.
Imagine yourself standing at the edge of a shoreline,
Small waves lapping the sand at your feet.
Behind you is the familiar land,
What you know,
What you've built,
What feels predictable and safe.
In front of you is open water,
Movement,
Uncharted directions,
And possibility.
Notice that you're not drowning,
You are not lost,
You are simply at a threshold.
Transitions are these thresholds,
They are part of the art of standing between who you've been and who you are becoming.
You don't need the full map,
You only need the general direction.
Take a slow breath in as you stand on this shore,
And as you exhale,
Imagine softening your grip on meeting certainty.
Imagine stepping into a small boat just offshore.
You take the oars in your hands and face the horizon.
As the sun begins to set off to the left of your horizon,
You see a star hanging low in the sky,
Skimming the ocean's edge off to the right.
You begin to paddle away from the past,
From what feels predictable and safe,
And you paddle towards this star.
This star represents where you want to be on the other side of this transition.
It doesn't have to be a perfect plan,
It could simply be a feeling,
Steadiness,
Grounded,
A feeling of home.
What direction are you wanting to head in on the other side of this transition?
As you paddle,
You continue to steer your boat towards that star.
Notice if there's any urgency in you,
A pressure to hurry or to make sense of it all immediately.
You don't have to get there right away,
You don't have to paddle fiercely,
You're just taking it all in one small wave at a time.
Transitions activate momentum,
But real growth happens in integration rather than powering through.
So you gently place the oars down and start to notice that your boat is still drifting towards that star.
As you sit here in this boat,
You gently close your eyes and trust that you are moving towards being on the other side of this transition just by pointing yourself in the right direction.
As you feel the gentle waves moving you forward,
You open your eyes and see an island just in front of you,
The star shining brightly above you now.
You are on the other side of this transition.
As you step out of this boat and into this new place,
You notice this version of yourself.
Notice how they stand,
How they breathe,
How they feel.
This future version of you on the other side of transition is not separate from you.
This version is being shaped right now by the choices that you make while navigating this moment.
Not perfectly,
But slowly and surely you are closer to where you are going.
Sit up a little bit taller and take a deep breath as if you are already embodying even just a fraction of that version of yourself right now.
Bold transitions are not about muscling through to get them over with.
They are about pointing yourself in the direction you want to go in,
Releasing a little control and allowing the waves of life to drift you to where you are meant to be.
You are still in charge of pointing yourself to where you want to go,
But there is more trust and feeling like you don't have to force your way through.
So keep directing yourself towards that star.
And when the waves take you in another direction,
Simply turn towards where you are heading again and again and again.
You will get there in time.
Return your awareness to your physical body.
Feel yourself sitting where you are,
Supported in this moment.
Feel your breathing begin to deepen again.
Transitions are not problems to solve.
They are passages to navigate,
With small tweaks and adjustments along the way.
The only way through is to actually go through this transition,
To feel it all as you do,
And continue to move towards that star.
And like any art form,
Transitions require patience,
Perspective,
And trust in the unfolding of your life in just the right timing.
You don't have to rush the masterpiece.
Take one final slow breath in,
And exhale fully.
When you're ready,
Gently open your eyes,
Carrying with you a steadier relationship to change.
You are capable of moving through bold transitions.
Not because you can control every outcome,
But because you know how to stay with yourself as you move through them.
Thank you for practicing the art of navigating bold transitions with me today,
And I look forward to sharing space with you again soon.
