Welcome to this yoga nidra practice.

As it is a beautiful full moon today,

This practice is aimed at connecting with the moon energies and directing its healing powers to the aspects of your life that might need some support at the moment.

Let's dive into this practice and we start with deep relaxation.

Please lay down on your mat in a shavasana pose,

Laying on your back,

The whole body is centered and straight.

Legs are slightly apart,

Arms away from the body,

Palms facing up.

Head in one straight line with the spinal cord.

Gently close your eyes and get comfortable.

Make final adjustments if needed.

From now on please avoid any movement until the end of the practice.

We start with a simple breathing practice which is designed to deeply calm your nervous system.

Start with deep,

Slow breaths into your belly.

Breathe with full awareness into your belly.

Allow your belly to rise and fall with your breath and allow yourself to feel increasingly more settled with each breath.

Give yourself a few rounds of deep,

Slow belly breath.

Feel yourself settling even more and begin to pay particular attention to your exhale.

Now begin to relax your breathing and allow your breath to return to whatever feels most natural.

Open up to whatever you can hear in this moment and welcome any sounds you can identify around you.

Recognize them as sounds and simply be the witness to the sounds you hear in this moment.

They're neither good nor bad.

Those are simply sounds.

Come back to the sensation of your breath moving in and out of your body.

There is no more control of your breath.

Simply notice yourself breathing naturally and easily in and out through your nostrils.

Return back to the sounds you hear.

Now back to your breath.

Now,

Become aware of your breath and sounds at the same time.

Feel yourself becoming sounds and breath.

Notice your level of attention to those simple yet direct sensations of the sound and breath.

Those two sensations are beginning to reveal the thing about you that does not change.

It does not change depending on situation or emotions you experience at this moment.

This is awareness.

Become awareness itself.

And from this state of awareness think of your sankalpa.

Sankalpa is a short resolve expressing your deepest desire that you want to come true in your life.

It is like a seed that is planted during yoga nidra practice and it is bound to grow in your life.

If you do not have a resolve I may suggest one for today's practice.

I am connected to the healing energies of the moon.

Repeat your sankalpa practice.

Now we begin to rotate your awareness by taking a trip through the different parts of your body.

As quickly as possible shift your awareness from part to part following my instructions.

Stay awake and aware.

Do not move.

Just focus on the body part that I will be naming.

Let's begin.

Bring your awareness to your right hand tongue,

Index finger,

Middle finger,

Ring finger,

Small finger,

All fingers together.

Palm of the hand,

Back of the hand,

Wrist,

Elbow,

Shoulder,

Armpit,

Right side of the waist,

Hip,

Knee,

Ankle,

Sole of the foot,

Top of the foot,

Big toe,

Second toe,

Third toe,

Fourth toe,

Fifth toe,

All toes together.

Bring your awareness to your left hand thumb,

Index finger,

Middle finger,

Ring finger,

Small finger,

All fingers together.

Palm of the hand,

Back of the hand,

Wrist,

Elbow,

Shoulder,

Armpit,

Left side of the waist,

Hip,

Knee,

Ankle,

Sole of the foot,

Top of the foot,

Big toe,

Second toe,

Third toe,

Fourth toe,

Fifth toe,

All toes together.

Right shoulder blade,

Left shoulder blade,

Upper back,

Middle back,

Lower back,

The whole back together,

Right buttock,

Left buttock,

Whole of the right leg,

The whole of the left leg,

Top of the head,

Forehead,

Right eyebrow,

Left eyebrow,

The space between the eyebrows,

Right eye,

Left eye,

Both eyes together,

Nose,

Upper lip,

Lower lip,

Chin,

Throat,

Right chest,

Left chest,

Abdomen,

Navel,

Lower abdomen,

Pelvis.

Now fill your whole body together,

The whole body together.

Visualize your whole body on the floor,

Laying perfectly still and relaxed.

Do not sleep,

Stay alert and aware.

Visualize yourself on a beautiful moonlit beach.

You can hear the sound of the waves breaking at the shore and see a magnificent full moon up in the night sky.

It is very peaceful and calm.

You feel safe and at peace.

The silver light of the moon shines all around you and the waters of the sea reflect this beautiful light.

Walk towards the water.

Feel your feet stepping down.

The closer you get to the water,

The calmer it gets.

Infinite and calm as the mirror of sea reflecting the moon above it is at your feet now.

You dip a toe into the calm waters and you can feel this pleasant warm energy softly embracing your body.

You step into the water and with each step you feel the warm water lapping against your feet,

Your ankles,

Your calves.

You continue stepping deeper into the silver blue water as it swirls around your thighs,

Your hips,

Your torso and your chest.

You stop for a moment to stand in the warmth of the healing waters and to admire the magnificence of the full moon shining down at you.

The moon seems to be bigger and closer to the earth that you have ever seen it before and you can feel its energy shining down on you.

Sense that the water around you provides healing through the silver moonlight.

Stay with this feeling.

Ask the moon now to heal whatever you wish it to heal.

Ask for its blessing in whatever you wish to achieve.

Listen for it to respond giving you the words of wisdom and encouragement.

Do not intellectualize,

Just let the message come to you in any form.

Now look around,

In front of you is an infinite sea.

This is a reminder of the infinite nature of the universe and of all possibilities and of your own infinite being.

Relax floating on your back and feeling a support of the water below you.

Give thanks to the moon and the water surrounding you for the healing and guidance.

You float for a while letting all the worries and stresses just drift away as you slip deeper into the relaxation.

When you are ready you turn around and walk back towards the shore and as you slowly step out of the water you feel calm and refreshed.

Notice that as you walk out of the water your body is drying off immediately.

Take one final glance at the beauty of the moon,

Thanking it again for the healing you've received.

Bring your awareness to the dark space in front of your closed eyes.

Watch the darkness that you see in front of you very carefully with detachment do not become involved.

Rest your mind in this warm friendly darkness.

If any subtle phenomenon manifests for example colors or patterns simply take a note of those and continue your awareness.

If thoughts occur let them come and go but continue watching the dark space.

Continue this with detached awareness.

Now visualize the whole body laying on the floor.

Completely relaxed and calm.

It is time to repeat your sankalpa or resolve.

Repeat the same resolve that you made at the beginning of the practice.

Do not change it.

Repeat the resolve three times with full awareness and feeling.

Notice all efforts.

Draw your mind outside and become aware of your breathing.

Become aware of the natural breath.

Slowly bring your awareness into this room.

Notice sounds around you.

Feel your body.

Slowly start moving your toes,

Your fingers.

Make a gentle stretch.

Slowly open your eyes.

The practice of yoga nidra is now complete.
