This gentle bedtime meditation is designed to support young children with itchy or uncomfortable skin as they settle for sleep. Using soothing language and simple imagery, it helps guide attention away from irritation and toward a sense of calm and comfort in the body. It’s suitable for young children and can be used as part of a nightly routine or during flare-ups. Parents are welcome to stay close and listen along as their child drifts into rest.

Transcript

Alright let's get comfy in your bed,

Snuggle into your pillow,

Grab your favorite teddy or blanket and let your body rest.

Take a gentle breath in through your nose and a long slow breath out through your nose.

Let's do that again,

A gentle breath in through the nose and a long slow breath out of the nose.

Your body is starting to relax and get ready for sleep,

Let your toes get soft,

Your legs feel heavy and relaxed,

Your tummy softens,

Your shoulders melt down into the bed and your face relaxes like a sleepy little kitten.

Your whole body is starting to feel calm and cozy.

If there are any itchy or tickly spots on your body right now and just notice them,

You don't need to scratch,

We're gonna help those spots feel better.

Imagine the itchy feeling has a volume button,

Sometimes it can feel really loud like a noisy sound.

Right now the volume might be turned up right up high,

That's okay,

Let's gently press the volume button down together,

We click and the itch gets a bit quieter.

We click again,

Softer again,

Click,

The itching gets even quieter until it's like a tiny whisper.

And now click one more time,

The itch volume is turned all the way down and the itching is calm and quiet and sleepy.

Inside your body let's imagine there's living a tiny group of friendly little helpers,

They look like soft sparkly lights.

They're your favorite color,

Maybe blue,

Maybe purple,

Maybe golden.

These sparkly lights love helping your skin feel calm and comfortable.

Imagine them floating gently through your body,

Down your arms,

They're floating across your tummy,

Landing softly on your skin.

Wherever the sparkly lights land,

Your skin feels beautiful and smooth and calm and comfortable.

The sparkly lights help your skin feel rested and they help it heal while you sleep.

Your skin feels safe and it feels cared for.

Your body is getting heavier now,

Your arms feel floppy and relaxed,

Your legs feel soft and sleepy,

Like they're melting into the bed.

The sparkly little light helpers curl up too,

Staying awake with your skin all night long and looking after you.

You're safe,

You're cozy,

Your skin is feeling calm and healing,

Your breath is slow and gentle.

If any itchy feelings pop up,

Your body knows exactly what to do and the sparkly lights are there to help you.

Press the volume down,

Take a slow breath and rest.

Now let your eyes feel heavy and drift gently into sleep.
