Welcome to the shared space.
A place to arrive and listen and perhaps notice something that has been here all along.
I'm glad you're here.
Find a comfortable position.
Take a deep breath in.
.
.
And let it out.
And do it again,
Once,
Or twice,
Or three times,
As many times as you need.
And out.
Soften your face.
Wide in your shoulders.
Open your hands.
Give yourself time.
Allow your body to settle.
And today.
For a little while,
Allow yourself to let go of your stories as I invite you into one of mine.
Have you ever noticed?
That before you've understood how to move forward.
Some part of you has already begun.
This morning,
Before anything was said or done,
I made coffee.
The world was still uncertain.
And my body carried questions that felt too early to answer.
But before I could even notice.
There was water warming.
A cup in my hand.
The small dark smell of something becoming.
I watched the water change.
Quiet at first.
And restless.
Until it could no longer remain still.
I sat there for a while,
And before I knew how to begin my day,
I realized something already had.
Coffee was ready.
I wasn't.
I stood there,
Hands wrapped around something warm,
Breathing in what had just arrived.
And somewhere between the warm.
And the waiting.
I found myself wondering.
Whether there are mornings when life believes in us a little longer than we believe in ourselves.
Take a deep breath in.
And sigh it out.
What do you return to?
In the seasons when your mind cannot make sense of the next step.
What are the rituals that hold you?
A cup of coffee.
Prayer.
Calling someone you love.
The habit of reaching for something warm when the world feels impossible to hold.
What do you return to?
Sometimes,
Life doesn't ask us to know what comes next.
Only to notice where it is already moving.
The next step might be disguised as something ordinary.
Something that says,
I'm still here.
Long before you can say it yourself.
And sitting here this morning.
Reminded me that regardless of what's happening,
The water will boil.
Bread will be baked.
Windows will open,
Coffee will be poured.
The world will keep making itself even on days that we cannot imagine how to join it.
Maybe that.
Is in life asking us to hurry.
Maybe.
It is simply reminding us that movement doesn't always begin with certainty.
Sometimes.
It begins by boiling water.
So today,
If there is something that feels too heavy to understand,
Don't ask yourself to make sense of it.
Just notice.
Notice what your hands already know.
What your body naturally reaches for.
Maybe hope and moving on.
Sometimes arrives as a cup of coffee being made before anything else has been solved.
And perhaps,
Before you know how to begin,
Something already has.
