This is a meditation for finding calm amidst the storm.
For the next 10 minutes,
Give yourself permission to simply be here now.
If there's a lot on your mind,
Know that you can set aside all of those thoughts,
Those concerns,
Those worries.
Put them into a bubble or a box.
Where they'll be kept safely and you can return to them whenever you feel ready.
But for now.
.
.
Get yourself comfortable.
And settle in for this short 10-minute journey.
Welcome.
No matter where you are right now,
No matter what time it is,
No matter what's going on around you.
You have just entered a portal where time stops.
Where you are deeply held and supported and seen.
When things are overwhelming.
When it seems like you're in the middle of a storm.
The last thing we feel we should do is stop.
And yet.
In nature when storms come.
It is not for us to fight them,
To try and stop them,
To speed them up or control them.
All we can do.
Is find shelter.
Let them run their course.
And appreciate the beauty of a storm,
Of what it represents.
Is after a storm.
Everything feels different.
The air has been cleared.
The sun seems to shine brighter.
And the ground has been nourished.
Storms are necessary.
Not just in nature,
But in our own lives.
And so in this storm of yours.
Can you pause for a moment?
And find a way to create your own shelter.
For you,
Maybe it's an umbrella.
Maybe it's about standing under a tree.
Or maybe you find yourself in a log cabin.
There is no right way to shelter.
Create whatever it is that you need.
And during this time,
Give yourself permission to simply observe.
To imagine that you are actually the eye of the storm.
To understand that things can be swirling around you.
Rain can be pouring down,
The wind can be blowing,
And yet you can be still.
Storms come to clear away.
Water.
Dust.
Dirt.
What is it that is needing to be cleared away for you?
What has been blocking your view?
Distorting your signal.
Distracting you from what is truly important.
As the answers come into your mind and into your awareness.
Imagine them.
Being blown away.
Washed away.
A new space opening up.
Often we look for things in the outside world to provide us shelter and safety during turbulence.
And yet there is only one place that is completely safe,
Completely sturdy.
And unchanging.
And that is inside of you.
So during this storm.
I welcome you to turn inward.
To move down into yourself.
And find that sturdy,
Dry place within you.
Where the ground feels solid.
The walls are protective.
And absolutely no harm can come to you.
And as you sit there.
Bring your awareness back to your body.
To the breath.
Letting it run its natural course.
Noticing how,
No matter what is going on in the outside world,
Your body keeps on breathing for you.
Notice how deep or how shallow that breath is today.
How fast or how slow.
And imagine that every cell in your body is like a tiny set of lungs.
So every time you breathe.
It's not just your lungs that are breathing,
It's your entire body.
Breathing in calm.
Breathing in light.
And as you breathe in that light.
You notice.
But the rain has stopped.
That the clouds are parting.
And at the sun.
Is starting to shine again.
And it did that without you needing to take action.
Or make scary decisions.
The storm passed on its own.
And as that sun shines on you.
So does clarity start to emerge from within you.
And knowing of why this storm came in the first place.
And knowing of what it's here to tell you.
Of where it's trying to guide you.
A sense of knowing washes over your whole body.
As you remember your own truth.
The truth that cannot be influenced by anyone around you.
A truth that is unchanging.
And in knowing that you are unshakable.
And in that knowing,
You feel a lightness in your body.
And a little spark of hope.
Maybe even a smile starts to dawn on your face.
And as you take in these last few breaths,
You breathe in the energy of that sunshine.
You breathe in the knowing that things are clearing away so that you can get to your truth.
And you pull your shoulders back.
You raise your chin a little.
And you say,
I've got this.
I know exactly what I need.
And as you slowly open your eyes,
And ground fully into your body in the present moment.
You make a commitment.
To honouring that need.
And taking the actions that are required.
