And i wanted to understand the nature of a human unhappiness because it did not make any sense to me unhappiness still doesn't make any sense to me it has no evolutionary reason for existing and yet there it is and consequently i came to understand the triggers and the causes of unhappiness you interfere with the nature of something and it will inevitably begin to express in some form of suffering true inner freedom goes hand in hand with forgiveness don't think you can go to god's bosom without having forgiven the greater your forgiveness is the greater your happiness is or the greater your entitlement to sit in the heart of love now who amongst you are holding others accountable for your pain still you have not forgiven them and you have not forgiven yourself for being human we all have a human experience during which we mess things up others mess things up on us towards us also and we have the power of forgiveness in order to let go and release there's a a wonderful caricature i don't know who it's ascribed to one of those rock and roll singers female singer i can't remember her name but anyway and it says if you want to fly you have to let go of the shit that's weighing you down if you want to fly you want to elevate you want to transcend you go to the next level of your being you got to let go of the shit that's weighing you down you can't take that with you you can't take your judgments with you you can't take your negativity with you you can't take your limits with you you can't take your resentments with you your jealousies your envies your anger you gotta let that shit it's weighing you down you can't take it with you and there are so many myths associated with forgiveness also we should really spend a moment or so trying to sort of see if we can bust some of them one myth that i often hear is that forgiveness means forgetting who's heard that before forget how can you forget you may not forget it's an incident something you've done something somebody else has done something life has done to you so contrary to popular belief forgiveness does not mean erasing the memory of hurtful actions that you've perpetrated or has been perpetrated on you it doesn't make any difference which is which when it comes to forgiveness it involves instead acknowledging the pain so please hear this forgiveness entails involves acknowledging the pain and choosing to move forward despite of it forgiveness allows us to remember the experience and at the same time to free ourselves from its emotional grip now please tell me why is that a good idea to bust that myth the only way out of a problem is through it through the darkness so it's through the memory so what's another myth about this idea that forgiving equals instant emotional healing or or what about forgiveness requires actually let's take a look at this because this is a big one forgiveness requires an apology that you have to approach that a person and apologize or or the other person has to apologize to you that's not true at all i discovered for myself i can free others and free myself from the grip of the past wrongdoings that i committed and others have committed as part of being human in my own private mental space yes an apology can facilitate the process but it's not necessary forgiveness is not contingent on receiving or giving you have the power to forgive within yourself nobody can give you a greater power you can decide tonight as you go to sleep to forgive anyone who has ever hurt you and to forgive yourself for having hurt anyone in any way physically mentally emotionally or psychologically maybe you've manipulated someone emotionally in some way you have the power to enable and activate your own purification simply by being willing to forgive unbelievable power and the human is being gifted with this ability you can take yourself from hell to heaven you can purify and you can also say you might not be able to truly forgive you can say to the best of my ability i'm willing to forgive i don't know how to i mean who knows how to have how to forgive we don't know how to do it but are you willing to as long as you're willing to to the best of your ability you don't have to forgive like jesus or muhammad or buddha or al mitra or any of these super normal humans you only have to forgive according to your own ability to forgive this is why for me before i do any spiritual act or all my work with humility i say i say with humility to the best of my ability exactly as i am in this moment i'm willing to i'm willing to forgive to the best of my ability i'm not perfect to the best of my ability i'm willing so as long as you are willing and to your ability that is a master key for success my friends rebecca says sometimes forgiveness is a process moment to moment over time indeed and this is another myth that i mentioned earlier that forgiveness equals instant emotional healing it does not it can it can but it does not the journey of forgiveness it's a journey it's a process it's not an immediate emotional fix even after forgiving it's natural to experience lingering emotions even after forgiven it's natural to experience but you continue using the instrument of forgiveness on that forgiveness importantly paves the way for healing so you know forgive forgiveness and myths like that it's important to dispel some of these i'll just have a look at some of your comments too i totally relate sometimes forgiveness is a process indeed forgiveness is to the extent possible yes i find myself forgiving in the present moment and feel resentful again later yes and so we must continue because the resentment is brought on by another interpretation about the situation so in such cases it means that you are holding a belief a belief that you were done wrong done by or that you have done wrong in which case i highly highly recommend Byron Katie's work the work of Byron Katie four questions to investigate the truth of your interpretations as a way of finding freedom amazing work some of you have heard me talk about Byron Katie she is wonderful another of our participants says the idea of forgiveness has been really twisted by the religious experience which is dependent first on the forgiveness of an outsider very interesting Gail and being absolved by another who has been appointed they may not be at a stage in their life where they can forgive us but we can forgive ourselves on their behalf we can also forgive them for not forgiving us the point is we are all intimately energetically on a conscious level connected if we're still tied together because of our unwillingness to forgive and because of our resentments then none of us elevate so we've been distorted we've been programmed to some extent with a distorted view of what it means for us to forgive absolutely absolutely truth is often becomes truism and in so becoming also a distortion how to live with relatives who will not forgive me you forgive them forgive them for not forgiving you you can't we can't like Eckhart Tolle wonderfully says everyone is only ever acting according to their level of consciousness your relatives cannot act beyond and above their level of consciousness neither can you the fact that you cannot that that there may be difficulty living with relatives who will not forgive me as you say is indicative of your level of consciousness that's beautiful that's how it is but you can elevate you can understand that they're doing their best and so you feel forgive them for not forgiving you do what you can not what you cannot and again Byron Cady's work my relatives should forgive me is that true others should forgive me is that true can i absolutely know that that's true what happens to me when i believe such a lie and who am i without it forgiving ourselves can be the hardest can also be the easiest i'm willing to forgive myself to the level that i can i can't forgive myself 100 but i can to the level i can and when i understand that i'm human it becomes even easier and when i understand that i'm unable to forgive myself because of shame which we talked about last night it becomes even easier shame that i'm not perfect and i did mistakes and i hurt people show me one person on the face of this planet who has not committed some kind of act of human experience so i have to go to jail i have to forgive i have to forgive jail yes you can forgive jail you can forgive god you can forgive your mother you can forgive your hand it's a great power that is within your ability so long there is willingness if there is no willingness then i cannot use that instrument shell self-forgiveness is quite challenging but necessary to travel lighter in this life wonderfully put be willing to forgive it's not personal life is not personal the sun is not personal love is not personal people don't do things on purpose they do things because they cannot do otherwise if you're on the sixth floor don't expect to be seeing the view of the seventh floor if you're on the 12th floor don't laugh at people who cannot see your view if you're on an airplane looking down don't judge others for being preoccupied with details of what they see just because you can see the entire city doesn't mean anybody can so it's all relative do what you can i struggle with regret and self-forgiveness join the club and we are sharing ways where you can let go we all do and some of us overcome that transcend that i know from myself i've forgiven virtually everyone i've forgiven everyone forgiven god i've forgiven myself for being human just forgive just look for occasions to forgive i don't care anymore i am such an opportunist my intention i want to go to heaven as they say or to be within the heavenly realm if i have to forgive anybody even those who have committed terrible things although that hasn't really happened in my life i'm willing i'll forgive if i have to forgive the devil in order for me to to go to the divine i will which is what we're talking about forgive the the atrocities that you've committed on yourself fear is an act of terror on you doubt how often do you doubt yourself that's an act of crime how often do you not believe in yourself you're committing act of crime you've got to forgive yourself for also for not believing in you i forgave myself for doubting me i forgave myself for for for judging me i forgave myself for whatever i need to you just i'm like i don't care when you get rid of these false ideas about yourself then there is intimacy you remove the obstacles between you and you and in doing so love is born love is a product of intimacy in time so important maybe it's understanding that it's our interpretation of what they did that hurts absolutely we can see here the work of baron katy is so important also in this act of forgiveness because some of our inherited or some of our long cherished beliefs about what somebody did in our childhood or this or that we believe that that shouldn't have happened people believe that certain experiences in their life should not have happened like what kind of planet are you living on on earth this is what happens people die people kill people rape people lie people shame is everything here this is where lost souls come in order to experience and find their way back to the light people want to make earth a heaven it's not heaven it'll never be a heaven if you want heaven you would not have incarnated into the earthly plane it's a gymnasium for souls people are trying to get rid of all the bad here it's never going to happen it just keeps advancing the challenges keep improving they will never disappear because this is a planet that challenges souls to rise to raise their level of being change the world and people have these utopian ideas that someday the earthly realm is going to be a heaven on earth no you can be heavenly on earth in other words you can have the right perspective you can have the right understanding that allows you to live inwardly in heaven even in this place of challenges the earthly plane is where lost souls come all of us in order to find our way back to the light in order to turn our back on the darkness what is the darkness fear anger resentment jealousy envy all of these things the negative emotions that we worship this is the darkness this is a darkness i have a leo friend of mine many years ago in typical leo fashion she said oh i don't need any of this sort of stuff for me one day i just decided to turn my back against the shadow and face the sun all of us should turn our back on the shadow and what is the shadow what is the shadow self-doubt lack of self-worth not believing in yourself fear jealousy comparing all of this is an evil act as far as i'm concerned and we do it out of ignorance we don't do it because we love it we do it because we weren't informed because we live in a time of great distortion where truth is being turned into truisms and the idea that now that you know them that's it take the words of of the expert and we don't have to we don't have to look inward by dispelling myths we lay the groundwork for a more authentic understanding not only of forgiveness but also of ourselves as great powers the human the individual is a great power capable with the use of mind to cause the universe to vibrate that's what the thought is a thought is like a like a lightning that sparks in the midnight sky causing collapsing as science puts it the wave function so from spirit to matter it's through the mind be willing to forgive stay focused on an elevated life let go turn you back on the shadow and face the sun

This talk came to my awareness precisely when I needed it most. I don't believe in chance or coincidence, and as I believe you and others have said "it's always darkest before dawn."
I've a sliver of hope this morning. I've noted your reference to Byron Katie as well. I'll be getting hold of her book: The Four Questions this week.
I love your interpretation of why many of us are shifty, stubborn and unforgiving. I agree. Earth School is a training ground for souls needing to ascend and surpass our wounds from past lifetimes. The 'good' ones teach by example in best case scenarios and often appear as martyrs.
I've hit a brick wall of inner-resistance through painful relationships and the inability to let go of past hurts, which includes cutting the naval cord with a grown child.
My soul is telling me in no uncertain terms, it's time to liberate myself.

So many things I am holding onto that do not serve me that instead, I could forgive both myself and the other, and I could began to heal. Not perfectly, not all at once, but "to the best of my ability that I am capable of."
