Hello,

I'm Bailey Smith and welcome to Insight Timer.

In this meditation,

You'll work with a mantra to calm your mind and to connect you to inner peace and freedom.

This meditation is designed to heal any doubts,

Any negative narratives,

Any disbeliefs through the use of Japa meditation,

Which is simply a mantra meditation.

Today you will use the mantra,

I am loved and I matter.

This practice is traditionally practiced with a string of beads or a mala,

But if you don't have one with you,

You can simply follow along by tapping each finger to your thumb on the right hand as we move through the mantras.

If you are using a mala,

Begin with the bead next to the guru bead and hold that bead between your thumb and your ring or middle finger.

Try to avoid the pointer if you can.

To begin,

Take a seat.

Sit comfortably in a place where you can feel your sitting bones beneath you.

Allow yourself to find length in your spine,

Sit a little taller.

And if it feels okay to do so,

Close your eyes or just find a soft gaze in front of you.

Take a deep breath in through your nose and a long exhale through your mouth.

Take two more deep breaths in through the nose and out through your mouth.

As we begin the mantra,

You can follow along either out loud or quietly in your mind.

We will begin,

I am loved and I matter.

Take a deep breath in and a long breath out.

You bow your chin to your chest,

Absorb your words,

Their vibration,

Their meaning.

Acknowledge and honor the time you just took for yourself.

Take a moment to thank yourself.

Take a moment to think whatever it is you had to set aside in order to show up.

Thank you so much for being here.

Namaste.

That was great, thank you! I ended with the mantra repeating in my head instead of the thoughts I had been having prior to starting the meditation.
