Today we are going to find stillness while completing the task of folding laundry.
As we begin to pick up each piece of clothing,
I want you to take a minute to check in with your body.
Are you holding tension anywhere?
If you are,
Go ahead and release that tension now.
Start at the top of your head and move down your body.
Notice your jaw and your neck.
Your shoulders and your back.
Your pelvis and your tailbone.
And finally your legs and feet.
As you hold each item,
Picking it up,
Turning them around in your hands,
Placing them down.
As you repeat these actions over and over,
I want you to concentrate your attention on feeling your body.
Try and focus your attention on what your body feels like from the inside.
Look down at your hands while they move through their actions and wonder what it might feel like underneath your skin.
You may need to slow your hands down a little bit in order to concentrate and that's okay.
Slow them down but without stopping your actions.
Feel the energy inside your hands.
This energy and this life force inside of us,
Keeping us moving,
Keeping us here,
Keeping us present is all we truly have.
Feeling in this present moment,
Feeling your body as often as we can,
Helps us stay grounded.
It is our anchor to attention and awareness to what it is that we have for certain.
It helps us to truly appreciate all that we have.
As your laundry pile begins to dwindle,
I want you to focus on what you do have.
What is it that you can be grateful for today?
The fact that you are folding laundry means you have clothes on your back.
There are some who can't afford the clothes on their back.
So instead today of saying I have to fold laundry,
Try I get to fold laundry.
Feel grateful for the laundry you have to do and feel grateful for the present moment.
Thank you so much for taking the time to meditate with me today.
I hope you feel more centered and grounded to take on the rest of your day.
