Today we are going to take some time to find stillness while cooking.
As you prepare your kitchen and start to gather all of your supplies you will need to cook your meal,
I want you to take a moment and check in with your body.
Take a few deep breaths in and out.
Begin by checking in with the top of your head,
Your forehead,
Your cheeks,
Your jaw.
Think of bringing relaxation to these areas and release any tension you may be holding onto.
Move now to your neck and to your shoulders,
Your upper back,
Chest and down into your arms.
Correct your posture if you need to and stretch out a little bit.
Just completely relax these areas.
Moving your awareness now down to your stomach and your hips,
Your pelvic area and lower back and down into your legs and both your feet.
Bring as much relaxation as possible to these areas in this moment.
Take a few more deep breaths in and out.
Now that we've released our body and settled into our space in the kitchen,
I want you to focus your attention on the food you're preparing and cooking today.
Preparing a meal is about fueling your body and the body is our vehicle for this life and in this world.
We all want to make sure we take care of our bodies but eating right is about more than just eating healthy foods.
When you consume food,
You take on its energy as you eat it.
This energy ultimately becomes a part of you.
Going to certain restaurants,
Eating certain foods prepared in a specific way hits us on a cellular level in our body.
Think of the notion of soul food.
Food prepared by people who love us,
Make us feel cared for.
Meals prepared by chefs who find creativity and passion through their cooking.
You can feel the energy that is inside of your food.
I want you to take all of the relaxed and calm energy we brought into our bodies and pass it through into the food you are cooking or working with today.
Giving all the loving and soulful energy inside of you and infusing it into your food.
Know that as you're consuming it,
You are taking with it not only its sustenance but all of its warmth and all of its vitality.
Food is what keeps our bodies moving and its energy is what keeps us vibrant and passionate.
I also want you to take a moment of gratitude for the food you have today.
Feel grateful for having the ability to feed yourself and maybe even the others around you.
Feel grateful for having a space in which to cook and prepare meals for yourself or your family.
Thank you for every meal you eat each day and for all it does to your body.
I hope you enjoyed this meditation today and Bon Appetit.
