Hello and welcome to this waning moon meditation.
This meditation is designed for you to connect with the waning moon and use the natural energy of this shedding,
This release,
This letting go to harness the energy of the natural moon cycles and allow yourself to let go of something to ask for what you want less of in life.
So for this meditation start by finding a comfortable position that works for you.
Since the moon is waning and decreasing in energy perhaps you find a more restorative and relaxed position by laying down or reclining.
And if neither of those options feel good for you today go ahead and take whatever works for you as long as the spine is nice and long and not a position you could fall asleep in.
Whichever position you choose make sure you can take a nice full long unobstructed breath.
And as soon as you settle in close your eyes turn your gaze inward and land your awareness on your breath.
Notice the quality,
Depth,
And temperature of your inhales and exhales.
Without judging or changing it simply observe the breath however it's arriving in your body today.
Now let's take a few mindful deep breaths to settle in.
Start by exhaling all the stale air out of your lungs.
Now draw in a long deep breath through the nose.
Exhale sighing it out the mouth.
Two more just like that.
Inhale through the nose and fill your belly.
Exhale out the mouth.
Let the shoulders fall and relax.
Last one to really anchor you here in your meditation.
Inhale through the nose filling the chest cavity and exhale sigh it out the mouth.
Feel your body ground itself into the earth.
And return to your natural rhythm of breath soft and steady.
As the moon's energy dwindles we are also supported to wind down and turn inward.
We'll do just that with a down regulation breathing technique.
How this breathing pattern goes is we will inhale for a count of four,
Exhale for a count of six,
Then hold it at the bottom for a moment.
Try your best to breathe entirely through the nose as this is more supportive for our parasympathetic nervous system to rest and digest.
Start by sighing all the stale air out the mouth.
Then inhale through the nose for four,
Three,
Two,
One.
Exhale out the nose for six,
Five,
Four,
Three,
Two,
One.
And pause at the bottom.
Inhale for four,
Three,
Two,
One.
Exhale for six,
Five,
Four,
Three,
Two,
One.
Lingering at the bottom.
Bring the breath back.
Inhale for four.
Exhale out the nose for six.
Then pause at the bottom of the exhale.
Inhale for four.
Exhale for six.
Gently hold at the bottom.
Repeat this breath on your own for a few rounds.
Inhale for a count of four.
Exhale for a count of six.
Then pause at the bottom for a few moments.
As you continue this breath,
See the full moon illuminating your third eye on the inhale for four.
On your long exhale for six,
See the moon decrease in size as it transitions to waning gibbous.
Last quarter,
Half moon.
Then waning crescent,
Landing in the darkness of the new moon as you hold at the bottom.
Take a few more rounds of breath here,
Envisioning the decreasing size and light of the moon.
The next time you land at the bottom of the exhale,
Hold the new moon deep within your belly.
Then let go of this breathing pattern.
Return to your natural,
Gentle rhythm of breath.
Noticing any shifts in your internal state.
Notice if you feel more connected to the waning moon.
Now broaden your awareness from yourself and your body and expand it out to the night sky.
Begin to sense where the moon is in the current sky.
Focus your awareness on the waning moon,
Whichever phase it is in.
Feel the remnants of moonlight softly descending over you.
Can you feel life slowing down around you?
As the lunar energy depletes,
Can you feel the slow motion pause into stillness within you?
Begin to ask yourself,
What do I want less of in life?
What am I hoping to decrease or shed in my life?
Reflect on what you have let go of under this waning moon.
Tuning into this sense of relief within the body.
How does your body feel releasing what no longer aligns with you?
What have you been gripping onto that finally needs to be let go?
Finally,
Once you feel complete reflecting,
Arrive back to the stillness within your body.
From this serene place,
Effortlessly flow your gratitude to the moon.
Thanking the moon for decreasing and lessening whatever you are ready to be rid of.
And for providing the sacred space to slow down and recover.
After you finish radiating gratitude for the waning moon,
Come back to your breath.
Deepen the breath as you return back into your body.
Bringing awareness back into your fingers and toes as you move them gently,
Bit by bit.
Conscious small movements.
Maybe you feel called to give yourself a hug,
Wrapping your arms from shoulder to shoulder.
Nourishing your body with the inward support of the waning moon.
When you are ready to complete your meditation practice,
Gently flutter the eyes open.
Return back to your space.
Thank you for practicing with me today.
