Hello and welcome to this meditation for resilience.
Start by finding your comfortable position for this meditation.
Whether that is a seat with your feet flat on the floor,
Tailbone rooted into the support beneath you,
Spine nice and long with the crown of the head lifted high,
Or perhaps you would prefer to do this meditation in your recliner on a couch or lying down with your low back comfortable and flat against the ground or earth beneath you.
Wherever you are choosing to practice this meditation,
Make sure that your body is comfortable but not so comfortable that you could fall asleep.
One way to make sure you don't fall asleep is to keep the spine nice and long.
This practice will help you remember your resilience and remind you of the strength that you've always had within you.
We'll start by remembering our resilience through the breath,
Beginning to take a deep inhale through the nose,
Feel each inhale expand you,
And exhale out the mouth,
Feel the body contract,
Drawing energy back in.
We'll take a few more deep breaths,
Inhaling through the nose,
And exhaling out the mouth.
Each time you breathe in,
Really feel the breath stretch across your body,
Expanding your ribs,
And each time you breathe out,
Feel the body contract,
Recoiling in.
Take a few more big deep breaths,
Really feel the movement,
The expansion and contraction of the body with each breath.
Take a few more deep breaths,
And allow each breath to remind you of your capacity to stretch,
Rotten,
And expand,
But to also pull in,
Gathering,
Withdrawing.
In this process of life,
As reflected through the breath,
Each inhale,
We're always growing,
Always expanding.
Each exhale shows that we're always evolving,
That as the body shifts with each exhale and each breath,
We make space for the next inhale to expand us.
Softly let go of these big deep breaths,
And allow your breath to just fall into its own natural rhythm.
Allow your body to soften,
Letting the shoulders relax away from the ears,
Softening the sides of your neck,
Softening the muscles in your face,
The jaw,
The cheekbones,
The eyebrows.
Allow your upper body to relax a little bit further.
Allow your lower body to relax and soften.
Now remember how resilient your body is by recalling a time you challenged your body or felt a change in your body.
It can be a workout,
Practicing yoga,
Perhaps you were pregnant,
Recovering from an injury,
Or even something as small as a paper cut.
Bring this memory to mind where you really felt a shift in your body,
And then remember how your body didn't need to be told how to heal or recover.
Whatever your body has been through,
It has naturally rebounded on its own.
We are our own healers.
Our bodies are biologically resilient because we have the capacity to regrow cells,
To heal even something like a paper cut.
Take a moment to feel into this regenerative nature of your body.
Honor its resilience and strength without any mental awareness or action on your part.
Once you feel complete honoring the resilience in your body,
Begin to shift your awareness to honor the resilience in your mind by recalling a time you had an old view,
Perspective,
Mental block,
Or mental challenge.
Perhaps it's an old belief you had about yourself or your life that really didn't serve you.
Remember how it felt when you came out on the other side of this mental challenge,
When you shifted your beliefs,
Or if you have experienced grief,
Loss,
Or pain.
Remember the feeling when you realize that this pain wasn't so present anymore or wasn't as intense.
Honor how you mentally rebounded from an experience or situation and came out with a brand new mindset.
Honor all that you have overcome up until this point to make you the person that you are today.
Once you feel complete honoring the resilience in the mind,
Begin to shift your awareness to the resilience in your spirit,
Feeling how resilient your soul is,
How you have digested all that you've experienced in life,
And are still here in this very moment practicing this meditation.
Just like your body and your mind,
You don't need to tell your spirit how to heal.
We all have this innate spark of life consciousness within us that keeps our spirits full,
Alive,
Brimming with the urge to fully live life.
Feel any parts of your spirit mending,
The underlying force behind your mind and body.
At its core,
Your spirit is resilient,
Self-healing,
Strong,
Unshakable,
And unbreakable.
Your soul and spirit are the energetic life force that make you who you are.
Because you are here,
You have always been resilient to even be birthed here on this earth.
Remember how this force of life feels in your spirit.
Remain in this space connected to your spirit for as long as you'd like.
If you are ready to close your meditation practice,
You can begin to draw another deep inhale into your heart,
Directing all of this life force right at your heart space.
Big exhale out the mouth,
Sharing this spirit of your heart to the space surrounding you.
Softly begin to invite movement in your fingers and toes.
Gently flutter the eyes open,
Pause as you take in the space around you.
And then continue on with the rest of your day,
Remembering your resilience.
