Let's go to the rainforest today.
Get comfortable.
We can practice this meditation reclined or in a seat.
Once you have found the right position for you,
Begin to close your eyes or soften your gaze.
Let's take a few exaggerated breaths together.
Deep inhale in through the nose.
Exhale all the air out through the mouth.
Again,
Deep inhale in through the nose,
Exhale all the air out through the mouth.
Once more deep inhale in through the nose.
All the air out through the mouth.
Begin to soften your shoulders away from the ears.
Take a few swallows,
Maybe a yawn.
Allow the teeth to separate in the back of the jaw.
Allow the muscles of the face to soften and widen.
Notice your breath just as it is without trying to fix or correct in any way.
Notice if the breath is present,
Shallow,
Or deep.
Inhale,
Take up space in your body.
Exhale,
Feel the release of your body.
Inhale,
Take up space in your body.
Exhale,
Feel the release of your body.
Imagine you are in a rainforest.
You're lying down on the forest floor.
It is warm and lush,
Leaves cradling your body.
You are surrounded by tall ancient trees offering their oxygen and shade from the midday heat.
The shade creates a bit of coolness on your skin.
The forest is filled with every color of green.
There are a variety of exotic flowers with pops of color,
Red,
Blue,
Yellow,
Orange.
The birds are chirping and squawking above as if to acknowledge to one another your presence in their home.
There's a thickness in the air as you breathe.
Follow the scent of the rainforest through your nostrils all the way to the back of the throat,
From the back of the throat into the lungs.
Feel your lungs expand and welcome the clean nourishing air.
Inhale,
Take up space in your body.
Exhale,
Feel the release of your body.
Inhale,
Take up space in your body.
Exhale,
Feel the release of your body.
Notice the air around you.
Follow the sensation.
Notice the movement of the breath as there is movement in the air.
With the movement of the leaves and trees,
The air is moving around your body.
It is all alive.
Wind gently moving through you as you continue to breathe.
Imagine you and the forest are one.
As you inhale,
The forest inhales,
Expands.
As you exhale,
The forest exhales,
Releases.
Continue with this breath and connection to the rainforest and the whole of your being.
Inhale,
The rainforest expands.
Exhale,
The rainforest exhales,
Contracts.
Gradually,
The rains start to fall on your head.
You hear it faintly on the leaves and trees.
Pat,
Pat,
Pat.
Feel it on your skin.
Pat,
Pat,
Pat.
The rain slides off the leaves,
Falls on your skin,
And drips to the rainforest floor.
Pat,
Pat,
Pat.
It absorbs back into the earth.
Pat,
Pat,
Pat.
After some time,
The Sun heats up and draws the newly fallen rain back up into the clouds.
The rain leaves you feeling cleansed.
Inhale,
The forest inhales.
Exhale,
The forest exhales.
Inhale,
The forest inhales.
Exhale,
The forest exhales.
When you are ready,
Begin to blink your eyes open.
Take another deep breath.
Begin to reawaken the body gently.
At first,
Blinking the eyes,
Perhaps yawning,
Turning your head from side to side.
Thank you for taking time out of your day to share your practice.
Hopefully,
This opportunity to slow down can help to create a pause throughout your day and an opportunity to remember the relaxing and magical sensations of the rainforest.
