Welcome to this meditation on finding rest when you're overwhelmed.
Take a minute to get situated in the chair or on the floor,
Wherever you may be seated.
Gently close your eyes or cast your eyes downward and take a deep breath in and a deep breath out,
Just allowing the body to settle.
Inhale and imagine going to the top of your head and with each exhale,
Allowing your body to soften.
Soften your forehead,
The muscles in your jaw.
Soften your neck,
Your shoulders,
Your chest and the space around your heart.
Release any tension in your arms,
Your hands.
With the exhale,
Allow your lower body to soften.
Notice your arms and legs becoming heavier and settling into this place of rest.
Simply inhaling and exhaling into this cocoon of rest.
There's nothing to do here,
Nothing to be here.
Simply to find stillness in this safe place.
The world passes by around us,
But we are in this pocket of stillness,
Of complete rest.
Sit here in this space,
This protected space of stillness,
A little bit longer.
Breathing in and breathing out,
Melting into the stillness,
Finding rest.
And when you're ready,
You can start to wiggle your fingers,
Wiggle your toes,
Gently fluttering your eyes open and taking in the space around you.
Take a deep breath in and a deep breath out,
Knowing that you can return to this space of stillness,
This protected rest whenever you need it.
I'll see you again next time.
