I Affirm is a personal poem. Part of the hero's journey series. Standing tall yet compassionate, our hero develops his rejoinder to the toxicity of rage and hate. So he rises, forgives, and refuses to be a victim while diffusing the fires of rage with loving forgiveness and self-belief.

I affirm,

Like sandalwood,

My perfume will fill evermore the air we breathe.

The more I'm tested out,

The more polished by actions,

My reactions,

I am.

I will freely give off my sap,

Even when axed,

Taxed,

But rest my hand gently still on my heart.

This flower is made more beautiful,

Not staged,

As it blossoms despite the toxicity of your rage.

Rage and its companion hate,

Brain on fire,

You shoot at me.

Loving water,

Perfume with forgiveness,

My rejoinder will be.

I choose not to be a victim,

Accepting crutches to walk,

But I will grow from all that you throw at me.

Like a medal,

I will bear their memory,

Shiny,

Like a precedent set to shatter glass ceilings that distort and tort our time to be caught in a reflection's limit.

Limitless,

I will fly,

And so I will rise.

Aru Aru,

Dear friends,

I'm sharing this poem to validate each one of us,

Each one of our affirmations about ourselves on our capabilities.

Limitless,

Not merely a reaction,

But something that is forged by the actions around us.

Still limitless in its abilities,

Still driven by its desire to rise and forgive.
