Loving Kindness Practice: Sharing Love With Our Partner
This is a beautiful guided practice Lovingkindess (Metta) for our partner or loved ones. This is a beautiful meditation that can be done with or without our partner present. It could also be used as a meditation to those closest to us. We hope you enjoy!
Transcript
Let's do a loving kindness meditation focusing specifically upon our partner and sharing our loving kindness with them and opening up our heart to them.
So you do not need to do this meditation actually with your partner present with you.
This is not a joint energy cultivation or energy sharing meditation.
It is your own meditation.
You do it as individuals as you would practice loving kindness normally.
So relax into your posture,
Into the space that you're sitting in,
Settle and make yourself comfortable.
And relax your heart,
Relax the flesh and muscles of your body,
Soften and relax your mind.
Take a deep in-breath and a long releasing out-breath.
Quieten yourself,
Settle into your own space,
Let your mind calm down.
Tune in to the stillness that surrounds you.
Let your heart settle like water,
Become calm and undisturbed.
And begin your meditation with a reflection on gratitude.
First of all for this precious human life that we have and the fact that we are a sound body and mind.
Repeat yourself inside three times,
Thank you,
Thank you,
Thank you.
Let this feeling of gratitude and open heartedness arise within you.
Let your feeling of goodwill spread from your heart,
Opening your heart,
Generating a feeling of openness within you.
Thank you,
Thank you,
Thank you.
May all beings be happy.
Let your feeling of loving kindness and goodwill arise and feel your heart opening,
Your heart softening,
Your heart chakra opening,
Your body relaxing.
And now bring to mind your partner,
The person who is dear to you,
Who you are sharing currently your journey in this life at an intimate level.
Bring them to mind and see them in your heart and regardless of whether you are facing challenges or in a period of happiness,
Generate a feeling of generosity,
Of gratitude and loving kindness towards this person who has chosen to share their life with you and their journey with you at this time.
It is a big thing for two people to join their lives together and share their journey.
Make a reflection to yourself inside,
Express your gratitude to your partner for giving you this opportunity to be with them,
To learn from them,
To find happiness with them.
Thank you,
Thank you,
Thank you.
When someone enters into our lives to join us in our journey in this life,
They present so many opportunities to learn and grow that we rarely find when we are alone.
In many ways our partner is our perfect teacher.
With all the hopes and expectations we place upon our relationship,
We soon come to learn things about ourselves that we might not have learned when we are alone.
And in particularly we start to learn about what it is to love and our relationship with love and our capacity to love.
And in many ways our journey here in this life is for the purposes of reaching a deep understanding of the true nature of love.
And for this,
Those people who share in our journey are our perfect teacher.
So embrace your partner with your love,
With a deep longing for them to be happy.
In spite of the challenges that they face,
That you face,
That you face together,
Send your love to this person with a deep wish that they might be happy and free from suffering.
Sukino wa kemino hontu sabbe satabhavantu sukitata.
May you be happy and peaceful and free from suffering.
May the time that we are together bring you happiness.
Sukino wa kemino hontu sabbe satabhavantu sukitata.
Recognize that the intimate connection that you make with someone who you share your journey with is a sacred connection.
It is delicate,
It is precious.
That connection that exists between you is a pathway to the most sacred connection,
To consciousness,
To the deepest parts of ourselves and even to the divine.
Recognize that your partner brings this opportunity into your life.
And for that feel a tremendous sense of gratitude to them for the generosity of spirit that they embody in their willingness to share with you.
Sukino wa kemino hontu sabbe satabhavantu sukitata.
And as you make these reflections perhaps recognize if you have at any point taken for granted the presence of this special person in your life.
Try to recognize that whatever anyone gives you by way of love,
Whatever anyone chooses to share with you is an act of generosity.
We are not entitled to anything.
What we share with those we love is a choice we make.
And we should do so with love,
With generosity of spirit and with appreciation for the person that we are with.
So with all your heart generate a wish that your partner may be happy,
That you might make them happy,
That you may be happy with your partner and that together you may be happy.
Truly happy.
Sukino wa kemino hontu sabbe satabhavantu sukitata.
Thank you.
Thank you.
I love you.
Please rest in the feeling of love that you have for your partner,
Let it wash through you,
Let it embrace them,
Fill them with your love.
See them smiling and as happy as you could ever wish them to be.
See all their challenges and difficulties washed away by the power of love.
Sukino wa kemino hontu sabbe satabhavantu sukitata.
May all beings be happy.
May you be happy.
Sukino wa kemino hontu sabbe satabhavantu sukitata.
Dekechi panna buddhati tasawa thawara vannavasesa.
Tiga vaye mahandava Majima rasa khanuka tula Dita vaye vahadita Echa dure vasanti ahidure Bhutava sambhave siva Sabe sata bhavantu suki dhatah Napaaro para ngiku veta Nati manya tanatacchidang ghanci Bhiaro sana patika sanya Nanya manya sadhu kamicchaya Mataya tanayang putang Ayusah eka putamanurake Ewanpi sababhutesu Manasan bhavaye apari manang Metancha sabhalo kasmin Manasan bhavaye apari manang Udangado chatir hihanja Asang padang awirang asapadang Sukhi no ake mino hantu Sabe sata bhavantu suki dhatah And bring your attention back into your body and feel your whole body again Breathe through your body May all beings be happy May all beings be happy May all beings be happy

An excellent message about feeling connection with your partner and appreciating and loving them. Accompanied by a pleasant chant at the end.
