This gentle meditation guides you into a state of balance between thinking and feeling.
Between logic and intuition.
Through breath awareness.
Body sensations and calming visualizations.
You'll invite both sides of your brain to work together in natural harmony.
This practice is designed to soothe your nervous system and create a sense of calm spaciousness within.
So begin by finding a comfortable position,
Either sitting or lying down.
Wherever you choose,
Just let your body be supported by the chair beneath you,
The floor below you,
The cushion that's cradling you.
Gently close your eyes.
Or just soften your gaze downward.
And take a moment to notice where you are.
What sounds can you hear around you?
Perhaps the hum of the room.
Maybe distant voices.
Birds outside.
Or just the quiet of stillness.
Just notice what you hear without needing to change anything.
Now bring your attention to the weight of your body.
Feel the spaces where your body makes contact with what's supporting you.
All of these points of contact.
Feel the support,
And let yourself be held.
You don't have to hold yourself up right now.
Just let yourself be supported.
And begin to notice your breath,
Just as it is.
There's no need to change the breath,
Simply observe.
Feel the coolness of the air as it enters through your nostrils.
And the slightly warmer air as it flows back out.
Notice the gentle rise of your chest or belly as you breathe in.
And this soft fall as you breathe out.
Your breath is like a rhythm,
Steady and reliable,
Always here for you.
And if your mind wanders into thoughts,
Planning,
Worrying,
Analyzing,
That's completely okay.
That's just what minds do.
So simply notice,
Gently,
And bring your attention back to the simple sensation of breathing.
In and out.
Rising and falling.
Each breath is a new beginning.
Each exhale,
A gentle letting go.
Okay bye.
And now expand your awareness to include your whole body.
You're not trying to relax or change anything.
Just awareness in your body,
Just noticing with kindness.
So starting with your feet,
Just notice any sensations there.
Perhaps warmth or coolness.
Tingling or stillness.
Heaviness or lightness.
Just observe with gentle curiosity.
Like you're meeting your body for the first time.
Slowly move your awareness through your legs.
And notice the temperature of your skin.
Notice any places of tension or ease.
Sense your hips settling into your seat.
Notice your belly rising and falling with each breath.
Your chest,
Expanding and releasing.
Your shoulders,
Are they holding on to anything?
If so,
On your next exhale,
Imagine releasing just a little bit of that holding,
Even just a fraction.
Bring awareness to your arms,
To your hands.
Notice any pulsing or tingling in your fingertips.
The sensation of air on your skin.
The temperature.
And finally,
Sense your neck.
Your jaw.
Your face.
Let your jaw soften.
Your tongue rest easy in your mouth.
Let your forehead smooth like a gentle wave washing over sand.
You are here fully present in this body,
In this moment,
And that's enough.
Being fully present here in this body,
In this moment.
And now imagine a gentle,
Warm light beginning to glow in the center of your chest.
This light is soft.
Safe.
And completely your own.
It might be golden or white or any color that feels peaceful to you.
With each breath,
This light grows just a little brighter,
Just a little warmer.
Breathing in,
It expands.
Breathing out,
It deepens.
And now imagine this light rising up through your chest.
Your throat.
Filling your entire head with a calm and soothing glow.
As you breathe in,
Imagine this light flowing gently to the left side of your brain.
This is the side that thinks and plans,
Organizes and problem solves.
Feel this gentle light touching all of those busy thoughts,
All of that analyzing,
All of that planning.
The light whispers,
You can rest now.
Everything you need to figure out will be there when you need it.
You don't have to have all the answers.
You don't have to have control.
Right now,
You can simply be.
As you exhale,
Imagine this light flowing to the right side of your brain.
The side that feels and creates,
Is intuitive and connects to the bigger picture that sees the possibility in everything.
Feel it gently holding any big emotions,
Any overwhelms.
This light whispers you are safe.
The feelings you're having are valid and welcome and you don't have to carry them alone.
Breathing in,
Soothing the thinking side,
Easing the analysis and worry.
Breathing out,
Holding the feeling side.
Making space for all emotions.
Continue this rhythm for a few more breaths.
Left,
And right.
Logic.
And emotion.
Thinking.
And feeling.
All coming into harmony,
Like two parts of a song finding the same melody.
Both sides are important.
Both sides are needed.
And now both sides are resting together in balance.
And now let that light expand to fill your entire head,
Bathing both sides in warmth.
And compassion.
Imagine both hemispheres softening,
Relaxing,
And beginning to work together as partners instead of pulling in different directions.
And notice how this feels in your body.
Perhaps there's a sense of calm,
Maybe spaciousness in your mind,
A gentle quieting.
Or simply a feeling of yes,
This.
Whatever you're experiencing is exactly right.
And now imagine carrying this balance with you as you move through your day.
When thoughts start to spin and loop,
You can return to this light,
Return to this breath,
Return to this sense of both sides working together.
When emotions feel overwhelming and big,
You can return to this light.
To this breath.
Through this inner harmony.
You have everything you need within you to find balance again.
It's not about being perfect.
It's about gently guiding yourself back with compassion whenever you notice that you've drifted.
Begin to deepen your breath slightly.
Feeling the air filling your lungs more fully.
Bringing fresh energy and awareness into your body.
Take a moment again to notice the sounds around you.
The temperature of the air.
The support beneath you.
And take a moment to simply sit with how you feel,
Perhaps placing a hand on your heart or on your belly,
Offering yourself gratitude for taking this time to care for your nervous system and to bring your brain back into balance.
Carry this sense of harmony with you and remember,
You can return to it anytime.
Your breath.
This light,
This balance,
It's always available to you.
When you're ready.
Being in no hurry.
Slowly filter the light in through your eyes as you gently blink them open.
Thank you for being here.
And thank you for choosing to take care of yourself in this way.
