Welcome to the Universal Meditation.
I'd like you to start by settling in,
Getting into a comfortable position,
Closing your eyes and breathing deeply.
If you can,
Breathe into your heart,
Imagining this muscle inside your chest expanding and contracting as you breathe in and out.
Now that you're relaxed,
Feel your body as an anchor,
Where you are,
The weight of yourself against the floor or a chair,
And imagine there's a line or a string,
Either silver or gold,
Rising up from the top of your head,
Going up,
Up,
Up,
And while your body stays anchored here,
You're going to imagine a part of yourself rising up through the top of your head,
Along this fine string,
As you watch your body see the top of your head,
The room around you,
And you know that your body is safe and it will keep you anchored during this whole meditation,
And it is there to return to when you need it.
But for now,
Let go,
Rise up through the ceiling,
Up through the roof of your house,
Your home,
And see it as you keep rising up,
The roof of your home,
Your neighbor's homes,
Your neighborhood,
All those things close and familiar to you,
As you rise up and rise up.
Now your whole town may swim into view,
Or your suburb,
Slowly keep ascending as your whole city or area comes into view.
Now you can see the geographical features of the landscape,
Creeks or streams,
Mountains or valleys,
Oceans or lakes,
As you keep going up,
Your whole state comes into view,
And then you notice the curve of the earth around you,
Suddenly you can see your country and the country surrounding it,
Realizing from this viewpoint there are no boundaries,
Not man-made ones anyway,
Just this beautiful green and blue ball spinning in space.
Keep going up,
You can see the planet below you,
The moon circling,
And space behind it as the planets and the stars offer a backdrop in their slow dance through the sky.
Keep going up,
Past all the planets,
You can see the redness of Mars,
The gaseous storm that is Jupiter with its red spot,
Saturn with its rings and moons,
Out past Uranus and Neptune and Pluto,
Beyond the asteroids at the edge of our solar system.
Keep going up,
As our solar system becomes smaller and smaller,
And suddenly becomes one of many solar systems,
Clustered around stars,
Forming our galaxy,
As you keep going up,
Our galaxy as a whole swims into view,
You can see our spot,
Our solar system way out on the edge of the arm of our spiral galaxy.
Keep going up,
Out beyond our galaxy,
Where our galaxy becomes one of many galaxies,
And we float in space and make up this amazing universe we are part of,
And this is where you come right to the centre of creation,
The galactic centre,
Where all creation issues forth from,
The source of life and expansion.
Breathe in in this space,
Breathe into your heart,
The awe and the wonder of all we are connected to,
And a part of,
Feel the love the universe has for us,
By giving us the ability to live,
The gift of life,
Notice how live and love are almost the same word,
Hover in this space,
As you feel yourself filling up,
To overflow,
With awe and wonder,
For what is possible,
To be part of this universe as a human,
And when you feel fit,
And full find that string,
Tug on that string,
It reminds you that your body is anchored at the other end,
And you can see now that this string can connect you to either end,
Whenever you need,
And now that you've collected all this energy straight from the source,
It's time to head back,
To pour force into matter,
See that string floating out ahead of you,
As you follow it back,
Through all the suns,
The supernovas,
And the other galaxies,
To our galaxy here,
This spiral galaxy we are part of,
And see all these other suns,
All these other solar systems,
Making up our galaxy,
As your string gets pulled into ours,
Right on the edge of the arm of this galaxy,
Keep going down,
Down,
Down,
Pulled into our solar system,
You can see the bright yellow light of our sun,
This yellow dwarf,
And the planets and asteroids spinning around it,
As you come closer,
You can see Pluto,
Neptune,
Uranus,
Saturn and Jupiter,
By in past Mars,
With Venus and Mercury beyond,
That string disappearing down to our planet,
The blue green marble in the sky,
With our sweet silvery moon,
Spinning around,
Keep following that string down,
See your hemisphere,
Your continent come into view,
Your country,
Your state,
As you come closer and closer,
Lower and lower through the atmosphere,
The features are becoming obvious now,
The forests,
The streams,
The mountains and the valleys,
Keep coming down,
Your city comes into view,
And then your suburb or your town,
Or your region,
As you keep coming down,
Your neighbourhood comes into view,
Whatever that looks like for you,
The houses around you,
Or a wild landscape,
You keep coming down,
Your roof comes into view,
And a thrill passes through you,
As you prepare to meet your body,
Float gently through your roof,
And hover just above your head,
As you imagine pouring all this amazing awe and wonder and love into that body,
That temple of matter that allows us to have form,
As you join into your body,
Feel the senses,
The sounds around you,
The touch of the fabric of what your hands are lying against,
Take a deep breath in,
Take in any smells,
And taste whatever's on your tongue,
And very slowly and gently,
Take a deep breath in,
And open your eyes,
Feel the thrill of vision,
And colour,
And light,
And all of this while still holding on to the beautiful feeling of being nestled at the centre of the universe,
And all that that offers,
And here,
This meditation ends.
