Welcome to this life purpose visualization meditation.
To get started,
Find a comfortable position.
Whether you're seated in a chair or lying on a flat surface,
It doesn't matter as long as you're comfortable.
Let's start by taking a deep breath in and letting it go.
Let's do that one more time.
Take another deep breath in and as you inhale,
Breathing in all the stresses of the day or the week and then in one exhale,
We'll let them all go.
Now focus your attention on your forehead.
Soften the wrinkles in your forehead,
Around your eyes.
Release the tension in your jaw.
As you inhale,
Send the energy of the oxygen to any tension that you still feel in your body and on your exhale,
Let it all go.
Today we're going to take a journey into who you are.
We will start by journeying back to where you began as a young child.
We will do this today so that you can start to uncover your life purpose.
Every single person on this earth has a purpose.
When we're connected to our life purpose,
We feel boundless energy,
Peace and calm and an expansiveness and a resonance as if our body is a bell that's being rung perfectly,
Filling our body with vibration.
But when we are disconnected from our life purpose,
We feel a lack of energy as if there's no internal energy available to us.
Therefore we seek to gain energy from other things like relationships,
Material things,
Overeating,
Alcohol,
Drug abuse,
The bottomless numbing entertainment of our cell phones or television or computers.
When we're disconnected from our purpose,
We also feel a dullness,
A chronic boredom to life,
A boredom that cannot be satisfied.
There is no individual like you on this earth.
You have a combination of traits,
Talents,
Gifts and interests that are like a fingerprint.
These unique things about you are clues that point you in the direction of your purpose.
Now as we prepare for our journey,
Return to your body and the present moment.
Become aware of the sounds around you.
Maybe you hear birds chirping,
Cars driving outside,
The hum of your air conditioner or appliances.
Feel the chair beneath you or if you're lying down,
Feel the places where your body touches the surface of the floor or the carpet.
Now imagine yourself floating just above the surface of where you are seated or lying down and you begin moving,
Floating toward the window.
The window opens and you float out over your neighborhood.
You can see the tops of all the houses as you float higher and higher into the sky.
You float so high that you can see your city beneath you.
You continue floating higher until you can see the outline of your country and soon you can see the spherical shape of the earth.
As you float high above the earth,
You feel ultimate peace in this perfect present moment.
As soon as you notice this,
You begin to feel that you are now floating downward back toward the earth.
You're getting closer and closer,
Softly floating toward your country.
You descend further and further down and you start to notice that you're floating slowly into the city or town where you grew up.
As you continue to float toward the ground,
You notice that you are getting closer and closer to the neighborhood where you grew up around the age of seven or eight.
In fact,
You're floating toward your childhood home.
You float down through an open window and into your childhood bedroom.
Inside you see yourself at the age of seven or eight years old.
You are quietly playing by yourself and you hear your parents in the next room.
As you watch yourself playing,
What do you see?
Maybe you're playing with Legos or Lincoln Logs or maybe you're hosting a tea party with all your favorite stuffed animals.
Maybe you're making a craft,
Drawing a picture or even writing in a notebook.
Take a moment to picture what the seven-year-old version of yourself is doing.
A moment later,
You watch your child self open up his or her book bag and take out a piece of paper.
What does your child self love the most about school?
Is it being with his or her friends?
Is it science class?
Art class?
Is it recess?
And if so,
What does your child self like to do during recess?
Take a minute to remember what you liked to learn about before anyone told you what was expected of you.
In contrast,
What does your child self dislike about school?
What is your least favorite part of the day?
Did you hate spelling?
How about math?
Did you dislike speaking in front of the class?
Take a minute to remember the parts of school that naturally did not appeal to you.
And finally,
Imagine for a moment what your child self wanted to be when he or she grew up.
What did you tell people you wanted to be when you grew up?
Did you want to be an astronaut?
How about a singer?
What about a professional athlete or a teacher or police officer?
Often we think that our childhood desires of a grown up occupation are overly simplistic,
But in reality,
These occupations give us great clues into our natural desires and strengths.
If you can,
Try to identify what it was about that occupation that you liked so much.
What was it about that job that made you feel that you would enjoy it?
Was it working with people that you looked forward to?
Was it getting to see amazing new destinations and things that most people never had the chance to see?
Was it making people happy and putting a smile on their faces?
Take a moment to identify what it was that interested you about this career.
Suddenly,
As you're observing your child self,
You feel your feet start to lift off the ground slowly as you float toward the open window.
You realize that your visit to your child self is nearing its end.
You slowly find yourself floating out the window and over the lawn.
You float higher and higher,
And you see the neighborhood in which you grew up.
You float higher and you see your hometown getting smaller and smaller as you ascend above the earth.
Finally you are so elevated that you can see the entire earth beneath you.
You are back into that dark,
Calm,
Peaceful space.
From here,
You can see the whole world,
And you remember that among the billions of people on earth,
You have a purpose to bring light,
Love,
And happiness in a way that only you can.
From your place above the earth,
You begin to feel yourself descending closer and closer to the planet.
You are descending slowly toward your country,
Then toward your city,
Then finally you can make out the neighborhood where you now live as an adult.
You descend even further toward your home,
And you gently float through the open window exactly the way you had left it before your journey.
You are gently released exactly to the place where you started.
You notice again the sounds around you,
The feeling of the air,
Whether warm or cool,
And you notice where your skin touches the chair,
The floor,
Or the pillow where you are resting comfortably.
Before returning to normal life,
You take a moment to think about the journey on which you just embarked.
You take a deep breath in,
And as you exhale,
You release any expectations that you have had for yourself or that others have had for you regarding what you are meant to do.
In this moment,
You feel totally and completely free.
You are free to take any direction in your life that you wish.
