Welcome.
This is a short mindfulness of the body meditation practice grounded in the four elements.
This practice reflects earth,
Water,
Fire,
And air.
Reflected internally and externally.
As a means of feeling in to our sense of unity and interconnection.
And belonging.
I invite you to begin by finding a supportive posture.
This can be sitting or lying down.
Even standing or walking,
Whatever position you prefer.
If you are sitting or lying,
Allow your body to be comfortable,
Alert.
At ease.
If you feel comfortable you can close your eyes for the practice or just keep a soft gaze.
As we drop in,
Take a few moments to notice.
Any sensations that are arising.
Especially where the body is in contact with the ground.
Or the chair.
Allow your awareness to drop in to these points of contact.
Feeling the earth supporting you.
If you feel comfortable,
Begin to deepen your breath.
And release the weight of the body further into the ground with each breath.
Let yourself be held and supported.
Ideas.
As you ground.
Sense the qualities of the Earth beneath you.
Those qualities.
Of the Earth.
Like steadiness.
Stability.
Rootedness.
I invite you to imagine that you have roots growing from your points of contact with the earth.
That reach deeply into the land beneath you.
These roots connect you,
Hold you,
And support you.
You might notice gravity.
Feeling the weight of your body,
Surrender.
To our collective Earth body.
Interconnected by roots that stretch.
Deeply relaxed.
Next,
We turn our attention to the water element.
Notice the fluids coursing through your body.
The blood.
The lymph.
Saliva sweat.
Bring attention to the beat of your heart.
Moving that blood throughout your body.
Consider how your body is connected to the vast oceans and tides of our earth body.
Can you sense the flow?
The ebb and flow like ocean waves,
Your breath in and out like the tide,
Just as thoughts Simply come and go.
Allow the inner sensation of fluid.
Movement.
To simply arise.
And formed.
There is nothing to fix and force.
Now bring awareness to the fire element within.
Fire that relates to passion and energy and life force.
Notice where you sense heat in your body.
Notice what parts of your body are warm to the touch.
You might imagine the electricity firing in your neurons.
Or the subtle tingling down your spine.
You might imagine bright embers glowing in your heart.
Appreciate the warmth.
Of this fire within.
Feel that vitality.
And energy that is always available for you.
Imagine that fire connected to the birthing of new earth,
To the eruption of volcanoes.
The hot core deep within the earth.
Pulsating Finally,
We welcome the air element.
Which gives us breath and defines space.
Bring your attention gently to the sensations of air coming in and going out.
Let the fresh oxygen infuse your blood.
Notice the gentle movement of the body as you breathe.
The lifting and the lowering.
The expansion and the contraction of your lungs.
Remembering that all beings breathe the same air.
All humans.
Our non-human kin.
And all plant beings.
Sharing.
This air element.
Allow yourself to soften in the space all around you.
Pick up that space.
Feel yourself again rooted in the air.
Breathing in.
Breathing out.
Part of the larger cosmic body.
Home.
In space.
Rest back and be fully supported in this felt sense of connection to all life.
Allow a realization of interdependence.
Soften your heart.
As we conclude,
I invite you to bring yourself back.
To the internal.
Resting in your own elemental awareness.
Your body is made up of the four elements of earth.
Fire.
Water and air.
And we are all interconnected in a web of consciousness.
That is the miracle of creation.
When you are ready,
I invite you to Gently open your eyes if they were closed and come back.
Into this present moment.
I want to thank you for practicing with me today.
And go forth into the rest of your day with love.
And light.
