This short practice is designed to bring immediate relaxation and relief.
Find a comfortable position,
Either sitting in a supported chair or on the floor with a wall behind you,
Or you may prefer to lie down on a comfortable surface.
Take a moment to drop your shoulders,
Relax around the jaw area and become aware that you are breathing.
There is no need to change or control the breath.
Simply notice the breath entering and leaving the body.
Each time you breathe out,
Repeat silently in your own mind the word relax.
Breathe in naturally through your nose if possible and with each out-breath mentally say the word relax silently.
Continue to do this,
Breathing in through the nose and with each exhalation saying silently to yourself relax.
You may notice that your mind quietens as you repeat the word relax on each exhale.
You may notice that body tension eases.
Continue for one minute mentally saying the word relax to yourself on each exhale.
Now letting go of repeating the word relax silently and get ready to move out of this practice and into the day.
You may like to make some movements in your hands or your feet to stretch your body in whatever way feels good.
This relaxation practice has come to an end.
