So,
How we're going to begin is you're going to sit comfortably,
However that means to you.
It could be legs crossed,
Could be sitting in a chair,
Whatever it is,
Sit somewhere comfortably that you feel relaxed and comfortable and you're going to close your eyes and you're going to take three deep breaths.
Deep breath in,
Count to four,
Deep breath out,
Count to four.
And each time you exhale,
You're going to try and relax your body a little bit further.
So,
You're going to inhale,
Pause,
Exhale,
Pause.
So,
As you're doing this and you're relaxing,
It's in those pauses between breaths where we're going to go.
That is where your creativity meets your imagination,
Meets your subconscious.
So,
Let's see what awaits you in the spaces between breaths.
Breathe,
Remember your breath.
Right now it is calm and deep.
It is what it needs to be to access memory,
To imagine another world.
Breathe deeply and let go of your reality.
Exhale slowly and purposefully and like a key turning a lock,
Slip between the surface of another world.
It is a special feeling when your entire body is engulfed in extreme cold.
Every nerve on the surface of your skin cries out simultaneously and in a way you'll never feel more alive than right then and there in that moment.
The body's natural reaction is to inhale sharply,
Which unfortunately doesn't bode well if you are submerged in an alien ocean.
That initial intensity is almost immediately followed by a numbing of the senses,
Which combined with the darkness of the deep creates an almost instantaneous spiritual experience.
Your mind,
Free of the distractions of the body,
Is free to simply drift.
The shock of the sensation followed by the cool blanket of the deep disrupts and soothes your thoughts.
You are never more perfectly present than in this moment,
Unaware and uncaring that it precludes your most certain doom.
Do not fight it.
Just simply let yourself drift deeper and deeper.
On the surface the icy cracks begin to blend together and the cracked mirror slowly returns to a smooth,
Glossy finish.
The starry night reflected on its surface once more,
If not for the storm raging over the surface and the crystal pyramid shining like a lonely beacon,
It's like nothing has ever happened.
Beneath the surface you sink,
Deeper still.
Your body is now completely numb.
The only thing that disturbs the dark are the multicolored lights that shine from within you.
Yet even they are quieting.
Like a string of Christmas lights they fade away one by one,
Until at last there is the tiniest of sparks,
Silence,
Nothingness,
Darkness.
But then,
Something strange,
Color in the darkness,
A trick of the eyes perhaps.
No,
It is growing stronger and larger,
Until the form of a giant sea creature begins to take shape.
A bulbous head throbs with light and pulses with an internal energy.
Veins of electricity hum and spark,
Giving way to waving tentacles that drift idly in the water,
Like a giant jellyfish.
It has no discernible eyes or facial features,
Yet it pauses and looks right at you.
Your descent has slowed and you float suspended.
Your hair and clothes lit up by the glow of the creature.
The juxtaposition of your form floating lifeless and dark contrasts the massive form of the jellyfish.
Your entire body could fit into the tip of a single tentacle.
Still,
That tiny spark remains alive within you,
Refusing to give out.
And as if on cue,
The creature extends a single tentacle.
Slowly it extends towards you and for a moment,
A flashback of the man with the glowing white eyes extending his finger to meet yours.
The tentacle pauses just as it reaches the center of your torso.
It is only a moment,
But here,
It seems like a lifetime.
And then suddenly it coils around you and a jolt of electricity shocks your body.
But it is more than that.
For the briefest of instances,
All the lights within you light up and a rainbow shockwave of bubbles lie outwards.
Again,
The creature jolts you.
Again.
And again.
From above,
The black of the reflected universe is lit up momentarily like a dying star exploding into a supernova.
It is shockingly beautiful.
Your own light broadcasting is the most powerful force in the known universe.
Again.
Again.
Within you,
Something stirs.
It is like shaking the cobwebs from a deep sleep.
Emotions begin to light up within you and this time,
When the creature jolts you,
The lights stay on.
Memories flash before you,
Your childhood,
Your parents,
Pure unbridled joy,
Followed immediately by the soft melancholy of sadness,
Death,
And loss.
Powerful memories fill you with confidence and hope,
Then darker memories of doubt and failure,
Good and bad intertwined.
Memories so happy that you feel your soul cry out with joy,
And then memories so painful you cry out in anger,
Rage,
Pity,
Fear,
Courage,
Love.
With each emotion,
A new color of light bursting forth.
Slowly,
These blur together faster and faster,
Until there is no more good and no more bad.
Just your soul reacting to the world around it.
It is too fast for your own thoughts to keep up,
And like a spinning top,
Your view of the world begins to blur together.
Any thoughts or stories you may have regarding a specific memory or emotion become inconsequential.
There is just the light within you.
The creature delicately withdraws as your own light shines brighter and brighter.
Like a coordinated symphony,
The creature reflects your light back at you until it becomes a mirror to your own soul.
It is something impossible to put into words,
Other than to say it is a kaleidoscope of color and frequency that is alive.
Deep within you,
Something stirs,
Something that hasn't been awake in a long time.
It is a hunger for life that is unbounded.
Brighter still the lights shine and span,
And maybe,
Just maybe,
It is enough to pull you out of the dark.
Deeper and deeper within you,
The light burns.
Every painful memory that you've tucked away.
Every lie you've told yourself.
Every voice that made you hesitate.
Every light that hasn't served you in the past,
Strip it away and let it serve you now.
Be thankful for each emotion,
Both good and bad,
And embrace them.
Let them in.
Let them truly in.
With a sudden epic burst of raw emotion,
An explosion of light bursts from within you.
Your eyes and mouth shine like beacons in the dark as your chakras light up like a Christmas tree.
Somewhere,
Alone in the dark,
A part of you died and in doing so,
It freed your soul to truly awaken.
Your eyes snap open.
The creature is gone,
Although you can feel a resonance of its passing.
You can't see much this deep,
But you don't have to.
You are aware of every current,
Every ripple,
And this world eagerly awaits your touch.
You don't wheel yourself up so much as feed an emotion that lights at the right frequency to cause the water to move.
Like a flash,
You shoot up towards the icy,
Blocked surface,
But there is no collision.
The icy barrier explodes outwards as you pass through and the quiet of this lonely,
Jagged planet is once again pierced.
Ice and water rain down around you,
Refracting the starlight,
Which in turn dances across the icy surface.
You breathe in deeply.
To your left,
The crystal pyramid is like a beacon of potential,
Silently daring you to peek inside and embrace the creative spirit within you.
To your right,
The storm roars and rages.
It is the opposite of the light burning inside you and in this moment,
You understand your choice to be clear.
Embrace the beauty within you and seek the magic within the pyramid,
Or face the dark of the storm and with it,
Your fears and all that is holding you back.
Which will you choose,
I wonder?
Is there really a difference?
