ACIM Lesson 339 Contemplation

"I will receive whatever I request."
This lesson asserts that we receive exactly what we ask for, but often we are confused about what we truly want. We may mistakenly seek pain or fear, believing it to be pleasure or happiness, and thus experience suffering. We are encouraged to resolve today to ask only for what we truly desire, seeking fearlessness and joy without confusing pain with pleasure or fear with love.

A Course in Miracles,

Lesson 339 I will receive whatever I request.

No one desires pain,

But they can think that pain is pleasure.

No one would avoid their happiness,

But they can think that joy is painful,

And they can think that joy is threatening,

And they know that everyone will receive what they request.

But they can be confused about the things they want.

They can be confused about the state they would attain.

What can they then request that they would want when they receive,

For what will frighten them and bring them suffering?

Let me resolve today to ask for what I really want,

And only this,

That I may spend this day in fearlessness.

Let me resolve today not to confuse pain with joy.

Let me resolve today not to confuse fear with love.

It is a day in which I would do nothing by myself.

It is a day in which I will hear your voice in everything I do today.

Today is a day in which I will request only what you offer me.

Today is a day in which I will accept only the thoughts you share with me.

No one desires pain,

But they can think that pain is pleasure.

No one would avoid their happiness,

But everyone will receive what they request.

But they can be confused about the things they can be confused about.

Let me resolve today that I may spend this day in fearlessness.

Let me resolve today not to confuse fear with love.

I will hear your voice in everything I do.

Today is a day in which I will request only what you offer me.

Today is a day in which I will accept only the thoughts you share with me.

I will receive whatever I request.

Nothing real can be threatened.

Nothing unreal exists.

Herein lies the peace of God.
