"I seek a future different from the past."

A new perception of the world leads to a future very different from the past. This lesson emphasizes that the future is recognized as an extension of the present, rather than a continuation of past mistakes and fears. We are encouraged to let go of past judgments and guilt, allowing the Holy Spirit to guide our perceptions and create a future filled with joy, peace, and freedom. A Course in Miracles Lesson 314 I seek a future different from the past.

From a new perception of the world,

There comes a future very different from the past.

The future now is recognized as but an extension of the present.

Past mistakes can cast no shadows on the future,

So that fear has lost its idols and its images.

So that fear,

Being formless,

Has no effects.

Death will not claim the future now,

For life is now the goal,

And all the needed means are happily provided.

Who can grieve?

Who can suffer?

When the present has been freed,

Extending the security and peace of the present into a quiet future filled with joy.

Father,

We were mistaken in the past,

And now we choose to use the present to be free.

Father,

We leave the future in your hands,

Leaving behind our past mistakes,

Certain that you will keep your present promises and guide the future in their holy light.

Father,

I was mistaken in the past,

Now I choose to use the present to be free.

Father,

I leave the future in your hands,

Leaving behind my past mistakes,

Certain that you will keep your present promises and guide the future in their holy light.

I seek a future different from the past.

Nothing real can be threatened.

Nothing unreal exists.

Herein lies the peace of God.
