A little poem I wrote at the time I turned my life around. Some inanimate objects in a still life create a poignant moment of awareness for me. I had quite my job. Started studying. Feeling overwhelmed by it all, yet in 5 minutes this poem spoke so much truth to me. I hope you enjoy it. From my heart to yours.

My name is Zoe Jack.

Welcome to my Insight Timer.

Today I'm going to share a little story about me.

In 2015 I decided to quit my job and go and study kinesiology.

I'm now a kinesiologist and I love it.

One of our subjects,

We were asked to look at a still life that contained a teapot,

An owl and a picture of an ant.

The teacher said to us,

You have five minutes to write a poem about the still life.

Many of us struggled with that,

Me included,

Until at one point I just felt something shift and my arm began to move across the page and I wrote a poem.

It took me all of about five minutes.

It wasn't until I read this poem out loud in class that I realised how significant it was but also how beautifully it reflected my life at the time.

I was searching for something.

I was looking beyond myself into what seemed the impossible.

So I'd like to share this poem with you now.

It's titled Once Upon a Time.

An owl flew into the glass.

He screeched and squawked.

Oh,

What a farce.

I see inside but I can't get in.

I look beyond this wall of sin to a shiny steamy jar.

But oh,

It seems so far.

An ant crawled up and looked inside.

I see what you see.

It cannot hide.

Go small,

Young owl,

As tiny as me.

Together we'll go beyond to see.

To find that shiny pot of tea.

Together they thought and soon found their groove.

The teapot slowly began to move.

It lifted up into the air,

Its magic steam clear and fair.

To the window it quietly went,

Letting out its steamy vent.

Teapot,

Ant,

And owl are one.

The glass between was as good as done.

Thank you for listening.

I have some premium offerings on Insight Timer coming very soon.

And in closing,

I wish you a beautiful day.

From my heart to yours.

That was a beautiful look into your process. So glad you found the tea that you became the practitioner. So lovely to meet you this morning.
