I've also been teaching medical professionals the principles of cosmetic dermatology and advanced skin care for almost two decades.
It's now well documented that the stress hormone cortisol can cause unwanted inflammation,
Both a cause and aggressor of skin conditions like acne,
Rosacea and even advanced signs of skin aging.
Luckily for us it's also now backed by scientific literature that regular meditation using positive affirmations can reduce the stress hormone cortisol.
So meditation is not only self-care,
It turns out it's highly effective skin care too.
It's also widely recognized that affirmations can help reinforce healthy habits,
So it may be that this practice,
When done regularly,
Can help boost your skin friendly routine and lifestyle.
So get ready to shower your body's largest organ,
The skin,
With the appreciation,
Gratitude and admiration it deserves for the benefit of your body,
Mind,
Soul and skin.
Together we will now invoke complete presence and comfort before flooding your body with relaxation and hormones like dopamine,
Serotonin and GABA,
The healing anti-inflammatory neurotransmitters released during meditative states.
First thank yourself for showing up to this practice.
You've already taken a step towards self-care and are that little bit closer to clear,
Comfortable,
Glowing skin.
Now let's take a beat to cultivate gratitude.
The likelihood is you're clean,
Dry,
Safe and warm or cool and if you're at the beginning of this meditation it means that for the next while there's nowhere you have to go,
Nothing you have to do and no one you need to be.
Next take a moment to find absolute comfort.
Wriggle,
Adjust,
Stretch if you need to.
How can you become 5% more comfortable than you are right now?
How can you become 10% more comfortable?
And as you find the sweet spot,
Settle into complete stillness and rest easy here.
Take a few deep breaths in for 4,
2,
3,
4 and out for 6,
2,
3,
4,
5,
6.
Now it's time to set an intention.
This could be something small that you'd like to get out of today's meditation or your biggest,
Brightest skin goals.
Take a moment to observe and see what bubbles up for you.
Let it come to you clearly and take shape.
Now turn that into a statement as if this has already manifested for you.
Repeat it to yourself three times and then let it go.
As I repeat these 22 skin positive affirmations you have some choices.
You can repeat them to yourself,
Out loud or internally.
You'll have enough time to repeat them once or twice.
Alternatively you can just lay back,
Relax and let me do all the hard work.
Even listening to these positive affirmations daily will help to reprogram your subconscious and positively impact your neurobiology.
You can't do this wrong.

Knowing that it benefits my skin just as much as my mind.
