Welcome to A Moment to Arrive.
I'm Janna,
And today we'll focus on a simple nervous system reset practice or processing pause.
So often we're blindsided throughout the day by something triggering.
When we don't give ourselves the time to process that threat or trigger,
We suffer later.
This essential processing time can be called a moment to arrive.
Gently close your eyes,
Join me in a comfortable position.
Let's start by noticing your breath moving through your body.
Notice there's some sense of movement in the body simply because you breathe.
Breath creates movement.
While you're alive,
Your body is always breathing,
Always moving.
Your mind is also constantly moving.
Your focus or awareness moves from one thought to another.
My voice will now guide your awareness.
Begin to focus on a recent moment in which you were triggered or felt threatened by an experience without overthinking or creating any story around this moment.
Just allow your body to feel it.
Curiosity and openness to whatever arises,
Let this threat be felt in the body.
Arrive into the sensations of the body.
Just noticing what is felt.
Maybe feels like a punch in the gut or heat,
Tension,
Perhaps a sinking feeling,
Restlessness or numbness,
Or perhaps something completely different.
If no particular part of the body or sensation comes to mind,
That's okay.
You can instead just focus your awareness on the fact that your body can feel.
Take this moment to arrive fully into the felt senses of the body as it recalls this threatening moment.
Triggers are first felt in the body and then recognized by the mind.
Now we arrive into the mind.
Let your mind name the sensations the body is feeling,
Not a story,
Just the sensations and then the emotions.
So maybe anger,
Fear,
Panic,
Perhaps rage.
Let the body's sensations be known and named by the mind.
So it may go something like this,
Sinking feeling,
Shame,
Or aching feeling,
Loneliness,
Heart pounding,
Anger,
Or rage,
Or fear.
Just feel the sensations and name the emotions that arise.
So the practice here is allowing the body to feel and the mind to recognize and then release whatever no longer serves you.
This is how you process the moment and the emotion.
For the next few inhales,
Focus on feeling.
And as you exhale,
Focus on releasing whatever is needed.
Now you've taken this moment to arrive.
You can move past this moment.
Gently reset your nervous system until the next moment to arrive is needed.
Gently open your eyes,
Just adjust to the light in the room.
Thank you for meditating with me.
May the universe bring us back together and until then,
You can always take your moments to arrive.
