Hi,
Welcome to this 5-minute forgiveness meditation.
You can come back and listen to it as many times as you need.
Start with settling yourself into a comfortable position,
Allowing your body to relax and feel supported.
You can close your eyes gently or keep a soft,
Unfocused gaze.
While you're taking a moment to settle in,
Feel your body connecting with the surface beneath you.
Take a slow,
Deep breath in and as you exhale,
Feel your body release any tension.
Now,
Bring your attention to your breath,
Notice its natural rhythm.
Feel the air as it enters and leaves your body.
There's no need to change anything.
Just simply observe.
Let your breath be soft and steady.
For the next few minutes,
We'll focus on cultivating forgiveness.
Forgiveness isn't about condoning actions.
It's about releasing the burden of resentment from your own heart for your own peace.
First,
Bring to mind someone you need to forgive.
This could be someone who has hurt you or even a situation where you feel wronged.
As you hold this person or situation gently in your mind,
Silently repeat these phrases.
For my own peace,
I choose to release this.
I forgive you for what you've done.
I release you from my anger.
May you be free from suffering.
Now,
Shift your focus to yourself.
Bring to mind anything you might need to forgive yourself for.
Perhaps a mistake,
A harsh word,
Or a perceived failing.
Silently repeat these phrases to yourself,
Feeling the meaning in your heart.
For my own peace,
I choose to release this.
I forgive myself for my mistakes.
I release myself from self-blame.
May I be free from suffering.
Finally,
Bring to mind anyone you may have wronged or hurt,
Either intentionally or unintentionally.
With an open heart,
Silently repeat these phrases.
For your peace and for my own,
I ask for your forgiveness.
I apologize for any pain I may have caused.
May you be free from suffering.
As you breathe,
Imagine a sense of release and lightness flowing through you.
Let go of the heavy burden of holding on to the past.
Understand that forgiveness is a gift you give to yourself.
When it does,
Gently acknowledge the thought,
And then kindly guide your attention back to the breath and the feeling of release.
For these final moments,
Just continue to breathe and allow that feeling of forgiveness and peace to deepen within you.
Feel the freedom that comes with letting go.
When you're ready,
Slowly begin to bring your awareness back to the sounds around you,
To the feeling of your body in your space.
Gently open your eyes and appreciate the feeling of lightness you've cultivated.
Take one final gentle breath in and a slow releasing breath out.
Namaste.
Thank you.
