Comfortably in Shavasana,
Support your knees and head as needed,
Cover yourself with a light blanket if you tend to cool.
Arms rest by your sides,
Palms open,
Soften the jaw and let the tongue rest heavy.
Allow these words to wash over you.
There is nothing to get right,
Simply notice.
Releasing into the support beneath you,
Take a slow breath in through the nose.
Exhale with a gentle sigh through the mouth.
You are safe to soften.
Or,
I meet each season with coolness.
Sense the breath moving in spaciousness.
Imagine the breath traveling from the ground to places that carry your history.
Lines of the face,
The hand,
Sense a soft,
Green presence in the heart.
But essence,
Hold all seasons together.
Your life contains them all,
Sometimes in a single breath.
Notice the weight of the body,
Then the airy spaciousness around it.
Imagine heaviness,
Lightness.
Sense any subtle gripping,
Then sense the capacity to soften.
Imagine effort and the calm steadiness of experience.
Not opposites,
But now envision a slow,
Clear river flowing beside you.
Each breath is a ripple.
Uncertainties may be receptive or resistant.
Perhaps a joint awareness that has been present through every age.
Offer yourself this blessing.
