Some of us think holding on makes us strong,
But sometimes it is letting go,
Herman Hesse.
So take a moment now to settle in and find a comfortable spot.
Start to come into your breath,
Noticing the inhales through the nostrils and sigh it out through the mouth.
Start to relax the body,
Shutting down the eyes.
Relaxing the jaw,
Removing the tongue from the roof of the mouth.
And just take this moment to settle in,
Clearing the mind,
And start to become fully present.
Right here,
Relaxed,
And ready to receive.
Take a moment now to imagine yourself standing in the street outside of your home with two heavy suitcases.
One of those suitcases is full of worries about the future.
It contains stress,
Anxiety,
And all the worries of the unknown ahead.
The other suitcase is full of regrets about the past.
It contains all the things that continue to bother you from days gone by.
Maybe shame,
Guilt,
The regrets from the past.
So take a moment here,
Standing and holding these two heavy suitcases,
And reflect about each one.
Most of what we worry about will never even happen.
Can you let go and trust that all will be okay?
That the universe has your best interest in mind?
Know that support is all around you,
And that worry does not serve you at all.
Now reflecting on the past,
The other heavy suitcase,
Consider how the past cannot be changed.
All we can do in the present is to learn from it.
So let it go and live in the present.
Take amends or take small actions to heal the past.
But living in stress about it also does not serve you.
So going back out to the suitcases,
Picking them up,
Realizing their weight,
And feeling the need to let them go,
Now that you realize what a burden they are to carry.
Do you want to drop this suitcase of worry about the future?
If so,
Simply set it down.
Just let it go and breathe.
It feels a little better now,
Letting one go,
But the other one is heavy too,
The one about the past.
Do you want to let it go too?
If so,
Simply set it down.
Let it go and breathe.
Take a moment here,
Now that you've dropped the two suitcases.
See how light you feel.
Now,
Mindfully walk back into your home and take a seat in your favorite spot.
Relax now like someone coming home from a long trip,
Dropping all of the baggage at the door.
And just relaxing here,
Now,
Resting in the present,
Just breathing.
Feel the lightness in your heart center.
Feel the space that you have now for good things to come to you.
Feeling a new sense of peace,
Of joy,
Of well-being,
A natural happiness that is always your true home.
So stay here in the present for the next few moments and just simply be.
Now gently start to come back into this space,
Feeling lighter,
More relaxed.
And knowing that you can carry this feeling forward.
Every time that you think about a worry or something from the past,
Just reflect back to this moment and how you feel at peace and at ease.
Start to bring some movement to the body.
Start to lengthen your breath,
Taking gentle movements.
And when you're ready,
Just open your eyes.
Welcome back.
