Today,
We'll be doing a brief guided visualization.
Where we draw on the energy of the Earth as we scan through the body.
For a traditional body scan.
At this stage,
We're identifying our resources,
Where we can draw strength.
And anchoring into the presence of the Earth.
Which is with us always.
So take just a few moments to settle in.
If you've not done so already,
Find a comfortable position.
Whether it's lying down or whether it's seated.
Rather than starting at the head,
We're going to start with the part of ourselves that is touching the earth.
So,
If you want more of your body in contact with the ground,
Take a few moments to position yourself that way,
Right now.
And now,
We're going to take a few nice,
Deep breaths together.
As we do so.
We're going to breathe in for six counts.
Hold it for six counts.
Breathe out for another six counts.
And then pause at the bottom for six counts.
This will allow us to calm our nervous system.
And find the breath.
Which will be our anchor for this meditation.
As we progress through this visualization.
We must first become aware of the sensation of the breath in the body.
Notice how the belly expands with the in-breath.
And then empties with the out-breath.
Hear the sounds of the air.
As it moves into and out of the lungs.
Notice,
Just notice,
Any tension that you might become aware of.
As you are arriving in this time.
This place.
Nothing else to do.
Nowhere else to be.
Just take a few moments to spend some time with this Earth energy.
And when ready.
Let's take our first breath together for six counts.
I will count it out for you.

Resume breathing normally at your normal pace,
Your normal depth.
And just take note of what is alive within you at this point in time.
And now,
I invite you to call up an image of a mother tree.
With you positioned alongside her.
Sheltered in the shade of her huge branches.
Upon simply glancing.
You become aware that she is what nurtures everything around.
That all living beings in the surroundings.
They stand up just a little bit taller.
And a little bit higher,
As if in true worship.
And you too,
Positioned alongside her,
Are solid.
Just like this tree.
And just like her,
Perhaps at this stage.
You're rather like a seed.
Exploring below ground.
Before you show yourself.
Pulling in nutrients,
Preparing to sprout.
What are your resources?
Where can you draw your strength from?
Below ground,
Yes.
But also,
Ultimately.
You will move towards the light.
We,
As humans,
Have a symbiotic relationship with the Earth.
And all other living beings.
When in contact with the Earth together,
We complete a circuit.
When we place our feet flat on the ground,
Our circuit is complete and we're literally grounded,
Committed as beings of this earth.
To participating in life as stardust held together by gravity.
As you step into your new way of being,
Even in small ways.
How does it feel to be held?
Supported.
Gently balanced in place.
Your mother tree is massive.
And twisted with time.
Her branches reach so high into the heavens that you can't quite see where they end,
And the sky begins.
And other branches reach out across the ground.
Where they're gently resting in the grass.
Which is a brilliant green.
Just imagine the sounds.
The smells.
The temperature on your skin as the sun warms it.
As you stand in this field beholding this mother tree.
And notice how her roots curl up and around the trunk.
And just imagine how deeply they extend into the ground.
Pulling in nutrients.
Seeking sustenance and carrying sustenance to all that lives around.
This tree is a bridge above and below.
And as you rest next to her,
You too are anchored.
Grounded beneath her.
This tree which reaches down into the earth alongside a vast network of other roots and mycelium connecting all living beings.
The surface we reside on.
The surface that you currently rest on is quiet.
But there is so much aliveness beneath.
See how aligned you are.
How your alignment with this tree.
With the Earth as your anchor.
Supports you.
Your decision to commit to this new shift.
To the conscious transition that you are now undertaking.
To the integration of new parts of the self with older known parts.
Of new information.
Of new knowledge.
And I invite you to see yourself rooting down into that same dark quietude.
The dark quietude that is also aliveness.
See yourself welcomed by this aliveness that is already there.
Which gladly makes space for you as a fellow creature of the Earth.
And now I invite you to connect to this tree that you've called up in your mind.
And through your connection with her.
Observe how connected you also are to other beings.
This network.
Begin using all of the senses available to you to sense the energy of this vast network.
Any sensation that you can become aware of.
Especially in the part of your body that's closest to the earth.
Just get to know this energy that's there for you.
Using all of your senses.
How does it feel?
What color is it?
What is its temperature.
What is its texture?
And how does your body respond to this connection?
Just name whatever comes to mind.
Whatever you become aware of as you scan.
Using your senses.
Becoming familiar with this energy.
And now,
With your next in-breath,
Gather this energy in.
So there's a concentrated glowing mass just below and around where you rest on the Earth's surface.
And once again,
Just notice how supported you are.
How you are one with the Earth.
And with the very next breath.
Invite this energy up into your body through the part of you that's connected to the earth.
As you experience this energy entering the body.
Notice any change in sensations.
Allow it to explore through you.
To flow.
Notice any sensations,
Emotions.
And as you do so,
Remain nonjudgmental.
Non-striping.
Just maintain an observant,
Compassionate presence for yourself.
And for the body.
As it receives this Earth energy that we've called into ourselves.
Perhaps we might start in the hips with our body scans.
And sew.
As you become more familiar with this Earth energy.
And with the sensations that it provokes in the body.
Just notice how this energy feels.
Specifically in the hips.
See if you can visualize the warm glow that it might call up.
Notice any tingling.
Notice any warmth.
Perhaps you become aware of an emotion or a different kind of physical sensation in this part of the body.
And if that's the case,
Just simply name it.
Allow it to be just as it is.
There's no need to change anything here.
Just allow this earth energy to be the vehicle.
Through which you explore the body.
Visualize it spreading through this part of the body.
Through the hips.
And now notice.
As it moves up into the abdomen.
Into the lower body.
And once again.
See if you can become aware of any sensation there.
Visualize this earth energy intermingling with the aliveness that is already there in your abdomen.
And in the belly.
And with the vehicle of the breath.
See if you can allow anything that you find there to release.
The breath is your anchor at all times.
You can always return home to the breath.
You can always acknowledge whatever thoughts the mind is presenting to you.
Name them.
And then return the focus to the breath.
Just as we are doing now in the abdomen.
So once again.
Just use this earth energy to explore.
Allow it to fill this space and then move further up.
Now,
Let's move into the heart space.
Into the chest.
And here.
Visualize the Earth energy as a warm glow.
The love that is contained in the earth right here in your heart space.
In the middle of your chest.
And notice.
Any sensation available to you here.
Explore around with this energy.
Explore the heart space.
As if it was a room that you'd never been in before.
All emotional aspects of our experience can be held here in this amazing container.
Feel the warmth of this earth energy as it fills this space.
If you notice any emotions coming up or any physical sensations,
Once again,
Just simply name them.
Allow yourself to be with whatever is there.
Whatever is a part of the present moment in wholeness.
Whatever it is.
As it's placed with you in this heart space,
With this Earth energy.
And then,
Let's call the energy up yet further into the throat.
See if you can detect any change in sensation as you pull this energy up into the throat.
Allow it to fill this space.
Notice any tightness in the neck.
Any physical sensations that are available to you here.
Just simply name them.
Allow them to be just as they are.
And again.
Anything that comes up is valid.
Our task here is to simply acknowledge it and to allow it to pass.
And now perhaps take a moment and notice if in the focus on these different parts of the body,
If other parts of the body have tightened up.
Or assumed some kind of tension.
Let's use this next out breath as an opportunity to invite that tension to release.
And then let's continue on up into the face.
Let's call this earth energy up into the face and into the head.
And again.
Just notice any change in sensation.
Continue asking yourself if you can use all of the senses available to you.
To explore in partnership with this Earth energy.
These different places that we're visiting in the body.
You might ask yourself if there's any tension in the face.
If perhaps the brows are creased.
Or perhaps the edges of the eyes.
You might ask if these edges of the eyes can relax down just a bit more.
Perhaps the mouth can be further relaxed.
Perhaps the jaw can slacken ever so slightly.
You might consider placing the tongue behind the front teeth.
So that the whole jaw can just hang.
Letting gravity do its work.
And then finally,
Let's call the Earth energy up into the top of the head.
And again,
Notice any sensation here.
As we pull this glowing mass that came from the earth through our body,
All the way through the body.
All the way up into the top of the head.
And just notice once again any sensations.
That's available to you here in the top of the head.
As you collaborate with this earth energy and explore this part of the body.
Here you may begin to notice a very thin,
Very delicate,
Golden threads.
Stretching up from the top of your head.
Where you are aware of this Earth energy.
All the way up into the heavens.
Notice that this golden thread is actually an extension.
Of this Earth energy.
And that,
In fact,
This golden thread that stretches up into the heavens.
Also serves as an anchor.
Holding you gently in place from both above and below.
An extension of the earth stretching through the center of the body.
You too are now an intermediary between the heavens and the earth.
And the Earth.
Just like the mother tree.
You may now see the energy of the Earth.
Moving through your body.
From your feet.
Which are held in place gently by soil and stone.
To your head.
Or perhaps fingertips sweeping the sky.
See this energy as affirmation of your realignment.
As confirmation of your worthiness to live.
The kind of life you've always dreamed of.
Perhaps feel how supported you are in the next steps you will take in your life.
Gently held upright and strong.
As you make one different decision at a time.
And so just take a few moments to rest here with the knowledge.
That you are an oh-so-worthy conduit.
For this Earth energy.
That it is a part of you.
And you are a part of it.
It is your ally and your support in taking the steps you need to take for yourself in this new chapter.
Take a few breaths now,
And let's broaden the field of awareness.
To feel the Earth energy through the entire body.
And perhaps surrounding you as well.
Where you are now a part of a larger field.
And again.
You might just take note of the entire body as a field of awareness.
And notice any remaining tension.
Or anything else that would like your love.
That needs your observation.
Your acknowledgement.
And once you've acknowledged anything that calls your attention.
Let's take a few nice deep breaths together.
Take a few moments just to give yourself gratitude for carving out this time in your day.
To spend with yourself.
And become aware of the tremendously supportive energy of the Earth.
That's available to you at any time.
You may sit here in this relaxed pose for as long as you might wish.
And once you're ready.
Begin coming back in whatever way suits you.
Moving the parts of the body that call for that.

And I invite you to revisit this place in the mind.
In the heart.
In the Spirit.
In your body.
Where you can become more aware of the connectedness between yourself and the Earth.
It is always available for you.
