Hello,
And welcome to today's meditation.
In this session,
We are going to focus on gratitude.
And we're not just going to list off things we're grateful for.
Instead,
We're going to take some time and use our five basic senses to ground ourselves in the feeling of gratitude.
Take a comfortable seated position.
We'll start by taking three deep breaths together in and out.
And out.
In,
And out.
In.
In and out.
The world is full of beautiful things.
We see amazing things every day and often don't even realize it.
The expanse of the sky.
A blooming garden.
Children playing.
Take a moment and think of three things you've seen lately that you are grateful for.
We are surrounded by sounds.
Sometimes to combat the noisiness of the world.
We tune things out.
Take a moment now and allow yourself to think of sounds that you are grateful for.
The birds chirping,
The sound of rain outside your window.
Your favorite song?
Even just the knowledge that you can listen to the greatest musicians and orchestras in the world with the touch of a button.
I'll give you some time to think of three things you're grateful you have heard.
Now touch.
What are some touch sensations that give you joy?
The feel of your favorite blanket,
The embrace of someone you love.
The softness of your pet's fur.
Even the breeze on your face.
Think of three things and then imagine those sensations on your skin now and allow yourself to feel grateful for them.
Smell is an often overlooked sense,
But it is sometimes the most powerful.
Smells can help us relax,
Provide a sense of comfort,
Or connect us to old memories.
What smells do you enjoy?
Your favorite lotion that helps soothe you.
The smell of the earth after a rain.
Flowers blooming in the spring,
Take a moment and think and feel grateful for three scents that bring you pleasure.
And then,
Of course,
We have taste.
We have never lived in a time with such plentiful and delicious food.
Think of some taste you're grateful for.
Your first sip of coffee in the morning,
A bite of watermelon in the summer.
Your favorite meal from childhood?
Think of three things that you are grateful to have tasted.
We have so much to be grateful for in our lives.
Even the simplest things like a sunrise,
A beautiful melody,
Or a perfect bite of ice cream are worth enjoying and celebrating.
As you continue throughout your day,
Take note of things that engage your senses in a positive way,
And then take a moment to sit with this sensation and feel gratitude for it.
It's simple,
But so powerful.
Use this practice to help embrace gratitude every day.
Thank you for joining me.
Have a beautiful day.
