Allow yourself to settle.
You don't need to change the breath,
Just go with it.
Begin to notice it moving in.
And moving out.
Imagine.
That the inside of you is a vast cavern.
A spacious inner landscape.
And all along the upper reaches of this cavern.
Imagine rows and rows.
Prayer flags.
As many as you need.
Perhaps.
Stretching farther than you can see.
As you breathe in.
Imagine the breath.
Moving through this inner space.
Gently stirring the flags.
And as you breathe out,
The air moves through them again.
Sending them softly in the opposite direction.
Each flag can be its own prayer.
You don't need to know what every prayer says.
You don't need to choose the right words.
Just allow them to be there.
Breathing in.
.
.
The flags move.
Breathing out.
The flags move.
Where are you?
Where is your practice?
Come back to the breath.
Come back to the prayer flags.
If you'd like.
Begin counting the breaths.
Start at 21.
And gently count backward.
One number with each breath.
If you lose the count,
That's all right.
Begin again.
Whatever feels natural.
There it is.
Nowhere you need to get to.
Continue watching the breath move through the flags.
Inhale.
And they lift and move.
Exhale.
And then move again.
And now imagine that.
As the breath passes over each flag.
Its prayer is somehow spoken.
Not necessarily in words,
Perhaps as a feeling.
A sound.
Or simply as something known by a part of you.
That doesn't need language.
Let the breath carry whatever prayers are ready to move.
Nothing to force.
Nothing you need to understand,
Just the breath.
The flags.
And this spacious place within you.
And when you're ready.
Begin to notice the ordinary breath again.
The physical body.
The room around you.
You don't have to gather up the prayer flags.
They can remain where they are.
Moving.
Whenever the breath moves through them.
Hari Om Tat Sat,
My friends.
Feel good.
Feel well.
Be happy.
