Here's a tip for you when you are facing task paralysis and you can't figure out what the next step is that you need to take to accomplish whatever it is you have on your to-do list.
I invite you to get comfortable wherever it is that you're at.
And when you're ready,
Take three deeper than normal breaths.
Inhale.
Hell.
Letting go of any thoughts or worries.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Shifting the body in any way needed.
Inhale and exhale,
Knowing you are exactly where you're supposed to be in this moment.
And now if it feels right for you,
Look around the space that you're in and find three green things.
Okay.
And now.
.
.
Look around the space that you're in and find three squares or something that is shaped like a square.
Great.
And now.
.
.
When you're ready,
Look around the space that you're in and find three things that are comfortable to you or that look comfortable to you.
If you're in a space that you can't find anything that is comfortable,
Think of three things that bring you comfort or that feel comfortable.
And now for the next step.
Look around the space that you're in and find three things that are beautiful,
Or that you feel is beautiful,
Or that you see and think is beautiful.
Perfect.
And for this moment,
Think about one thing you could do that will make you feel 1% better.
Perhaps take a sip of water.
Perhaps stretch.
Perhaps shift in your seat.
Perhaps grab a snack.
Whatever it is that you feel will help you feel better.
Wonderful.
So this practice helps us feel grounded because we are finding facts that are positive and true.
We are being mindful of the present moment and we're momentarily letting go of the past and also not thinking about the future.
We are simply being in the present.
What's happening is that we are held in the prefrontal cortex.
This is where we have rational thought,
Emotional regulation,
Motivation.
It's also our executive function and decision making part of our brains.
So this puts us back in control of our mind.
Mind.
The 1% proves that you are capable of taking action,
You are ready to take control of your life,
And you can handle all of the tasks that you need to do.
