Find a comfortable position.
Let yourself settle into the support beneath you.
Notice the places where your body meets the floor,
The chair,
The bed,
Whatever's holding you right now.
Take a slow breath in.
And exhale.
For these next few minutes,
You don't have to hold yourself up.
Let the ground do some of that work.
Feel the weight of your body.
Notice that you don't have to consciously hold yourself in just the right position.
You can let yourself be supported.
Take a breath.
And imagine that this support.
Extends beyond the surface beneath you.
The floor beneath you.
The earth beneath the floor.
That it extends to the atmosphere around you.
To the sunlight that has traveled across space to reach your skin.
To the water you drink,
To the food that grew somewhere before it reached your plate.
Imagine the support extends.
So much of your life.
Is supported by things you did not create and cannot control.
You are part of something much larger than your individual effort.
Take another breath.
You might be carrying something right now that feels like it's entirely yours to solve.
A decision,
A relationship.
Your work,
Your future.
Someone else's pain.
Something you desperately want to control.
So bring that to mind.
And notice how your body responds when you imagine carrying it all yourself.
Notice if there's any specific place in your body that responds when you imagine carrying this burden all by yourself.
Now,
Imagine setting it down.
And I don't mean abandoning it,
Just.
Setting it down for a moment.
We aren't pretending like it doesn't matter.
We're just going to set it down for a moment.
You can care deeply without carrying everything.
Receive another breath and silently or out loud say,
I can do my part.
I don't have to do all of it.
I release what isn't mine to carry.
So come back to your body and feel the support beneath you.
If the word divine is meaningful for you,
You might imagine that this support is also a form of divine presence.
Something larger than you.
Something you don't have to fully understand.
Something you can lean toward without needing to explain it.
And if that language doesn't fit for you,
You can simply stay with the physical experience of being supported.
The earth is still beneath you.
The air is still around you.
Your breath is still moving.
You don't have to believe any particular thing for support to be there.
Take a slow breath in.
And as you exhale,
Let your body become a little heavier.
Let yourself receive.
Receive the floor.
Receive the breath.
Receive this moment.
You don't have to know what happens next.
You don't have to carry tomorrow,
Today.
You don't have to hold the entire world together.
You can do what is yours to do.
And let the rest be held by something larger than you.
So take one more breath in and exhale slowly.
As we close this meditation,
Notice you are here.
You are supported.
And for this moment.
You can let yourself be howled.
When you're ready,
Open your eyes and carry a little less than you carried in.
