In Yoruba tradition, ase is the life force that flows through all living things — and it lives in your breath. This five-minute grounding practice is designed for leaders carrying the weight of decisions, teams, and constant demands. Using ancestral wisdom as your anchor, you'll release what isn't yours to hold and return to your body, your breath, and your power. You'll leave not just calmer — but operating from a different frequency entirely. This is not performative wellness. This is a remembering.

Alafia,

I'm Danika Brown Frazier and I'm honored to guide you through this practice.

Wherever you are,

At your desk,

In your car,

Stilling a moment between meetings,

You're exactly where you need to be.

Let's begin by acknowledging the weight you're carrying,

The decisions that stack up,

The constant context switching.

The responsibility of holding space for your team while delivering results.

You don't need to fix any of it right now.

Just acknowledge it.

Find a comfortable position,

Feet on the floor if you're sitting.

Let your hands rest wherever feels natural.

You can close your eyes or soften your gaze downward.

In Yoruba tradition,

We speak of Ashe,

The life force that flows through all things.

Your breath carries this energy.

It's not something you create.

It's something you remember.

Let's connect to it now.

Take a deep breath in through your nose and release it slowly through your mouth.

Again,

Breathe in deeply and let it go.

As you breathe,

Feel your feet on the floor.

The earth is holding you,

Not metaphorically,

Literally.

You are being held by something older and steadier than any deadline,

Any quarterly target,

Any performance review.

Your ancestors knew this.

They knew how to ground when the world demanded too much.

They knew how to find stillness in chaos.

That wisdom lives in your body right now.

Breathe with them.

Inhale and exhale.

Let your shoulders drop away from your ears.

Soften your jaw.

Unclench what doesn't need to be held.

Now,

Bring your awareness to your chest,

The place where you hold worry,

Where you absorb your team's stress,

Where you carry the weight of caring while performing.

Place one hand on your heart.

Feel it beating.

This heartbeat is not separate from the earth beneath you,

The ancestors behind you,

The generations that will come after you.

You are part of a continuum.

You are not alone in this.

On your next inhale,

Imagine drawing strength from that lineage,

From everyone who has led with integrity,

Who has cared for their people,

Who has held the tension between compassion and results.

Breathe it in.

And as you exhale,

Release what's not yours to carry.

The anxiety about things you cannot control.

The need to have all the answers right now.

The belief that rest is weakness.

Let it go.

One more cycle.

Breathe in strength,

Wisdom,

Clarity.

Breathe out exhaustion,

Overwhelm,

The weight of being the only one who can hold it all.

You are a leader,

And leaders know when to ground,

When to pause,

When to reconnect to what matters.

Begin to deepen your breath.

Wiggle your fingers and toes.

When you're ready,

Open your eyes.

You just shifted your frequency.

That's not small.

That's everything.

The version of you returning to your team right now is not the same one who sat down five minutes ago.

You are operating from a different field,

A higher signal.

Grounded leaders don't just perform better,

They transmit differently.

Your calm becomes permission.

Your clarity becomes direction.

Your peace becomes the ceiling your team grows toward.

Carry this back,

Not as a memory of a nice moment,

But as a living frequency.

You are held.

You are rooted.

You are the ancestor someone is praying to right now.

Thank you for practicing with me.

Adabo.
