When someone you love is hurting,

It's natural to want to fix it,

To offer advice,

To solve,

To try to make it go away.

But sometimes healing doesn't require fixing,

It needs witnessing.

When we stop trying to control the outcome,

We begin to trust the process.

We discover that our presence,

Being quiet,

Steady,

Compassionate,

Is more powerful than any solution we could offer.

So next time you feel the urge to fix,

Pause,

Take a breath,

Simply say I'm here with you,

Or ask how you can best support the other person.

That's often enough,

And sometimes just holding space is everything.
