There was a moment where you felt criticized and embarrassed by your creativity.
Maybe it was in the classroom,
Maybe at home.
Maybe at work in front of other people.
People who did not realize what they were about to take from you.
Someone said something or laughed or held up someone else's work as an example.
Or simply look to what you'd made and made you feel that it was not enough.
That you were not enough.
It may have only lasted a few seconds,
But it stayed with you.
And somewhere after that moment,
You stop.
Stop singing.
Stop drawing.
Stop writing.
Stop raising your hand.
Stop trying.
Not because you're not creative.
But because the risk of being seen and found wanting.
Felt like too much to carry again.
This is your EFT tapping session for healing your creativity scars.
For the moment that told you creating was not for you,
And for the part of you that has believed it ever since.
Find a comfortable position.
Let your body settle.
Close your eyes if that feels comfortable.
Take a slow breath in through your nose.
And a long breath out through your mouth.
Again,
Breathing in.
And letting go.
One more time,
Inhale slowly.
And exhale fully.
Relaxing fully into this moment.
Before we begin tapping,
I want you to bring to mind one moment when your creativity was judged,
Dismissed,
Or shamed.
It could be a teacher,
A parent,
A sibling,
A friend who laughed,
A red mark across something you were proud of.
A voice that said,
Leave the creative work to someone else.
Let that memory come.
Notice where it feels in your body.
And give it a number from 0 to 10.
10,
Being very present and strong.
Zero being barely there at all.
Note that number.
We're going to move it.
Bring your fingers to the karate chop point on the side of your hand.
And begin tapping gently and repeating after me.
Even though someone hurt my creativity.
Even though someone hurt my creativity.
I deeply and completely accept myself.
I deeply and completely accept myself.
Even though that moment still stays with me.
Even though that moment still stays with me.
I choose to be gentle with myself now.
I choose to be gentle with myself now.
Even though I've been believing this story,
Even though I've been believing this story,
I am open to knowing the truth today.
I am open to knowing the truth today.
Stop tapping on the side of your hand and bring your fingers to the inner edge of your eyebrow.
Begin tapping softly.
On the eyebrow point and repeat after me.
This creativity scar.
This creativity scar.
Tapping on the side of the eye.
That moment stays with me.
That moment stays with me.
Tapping under the eye.
It feels like a verdict.
It feels like a verdict.
Tap the end of the nose.
I am not creative enough.
I am not creative enough.
Tapping on the chin.
It is not safe to express myself.
It is not safe to express myself.
Tapping on the collarbone.
Better not to try.
Better not to try.
Tapping under the arm.
Than to be embarrassed again.
Than to be embarrassed again.
Tapping on the top of the head.
This creativity scar is still with me.
This creativity scar is still with me.
Stop tapping.
Take a slow breath in.
And release it completely.
We'll move into round two of tapping.
Starting with the inner eyebrow and repeating after me.
I am ready to release this now.
I am ready to release this now.
Moving to the side of the eye.
This story does not serve me.
This story does not serve me.
Tapping under the eye.
That was one person's opinion.
That was one person's opinion.
Tapping into the nose.
I did not question it.
But it does not need to be my truth.
I did not question it.
But it does not need to be my truth.
Tapping on the chin.
Maybe there is a better way.
Maybe there is a better way.
Tapping on the collarbone.
A story I can tell myself.
That sets my creativity free.
A story I can tell myself.
That sets my creativity free.
Tapping under the arm.
I release that old story now.
It was never the truth.
I release that old story now.
It was never the truth.
Tapping on the top of the head.
It was not mine to carry.
It was not mine to carry.
Stop tapping.
Let your hands rest.
Take a breath in.
And release your breath slowly and completely.
We'll now move into our final round of tapping.
This one is opening to possibility.
Starting with the inner eyebrow.
My creativity was always there.
My creativity was always there.
Tapping on the side of the eye.
It went quiet to keep me safe.
It went quiet to keep me safe.
Tapping into the eye.
It never left me.
And I know now that it's safe to express myself.
It never left me,
And I know now that it's safe to express myself.
Tapping under the nose.
I am free to create.
I am free to create.
Tapping on the chin.
I am allowed to be imperfect.
I'm allowed to be imperfect.
Tapping on the collarbone.
Creating.
Is my birthright.
Creating is my birthright.
Tapping into the arm.
I give myself permission to begin again.
I give myself permission to begin again.
Tapping on the top of the head.
My creativity is mine.
It has always been.
My creativity is mine and has always been.
Stop tapping.
Take one long,
Slow breath in.
And let it go completely.
Let your hands rest where they fall.
Let your face soften.
Your jaw relax.
Your shoulders drop.
Your whole body settles.
Allow yourself to relax fully into this moment.
Now check back in with that number from 0 to 10.
Where are you now?
Remember 10?
Feels completely judged,
Blocked.
Unable to express your creativity.
And zero is free to express yourself,
Free to create.
Where are you now?
Notice any shift,
However large or small.
That is the old story beginning to loosen its grip.
That is the younger version of you starting to feel a little less alone in that moment.
And here's something worth sitting with.
The person who said something that embarrassed you or stifled your creativity may not even remember saying it.
But you've been carrying it for years,
Perhaps decades,
Letting it decide what you attempt,
What you share.
What you allow yourself to make,
How you allow yourself to show up in the world.
A creativity scar is not proof that you're not creative.
It is proof that you are creative enough to be vulnerable,
To put something of yourself into the world,
To care about what you made.
That takes courage,
It always has.
And the voice that said you cannot paint or you cannot sing or you cannot write,
That voice was wrong.
So now,
I invite you.
To step fully into your power.
And repeat this as often as you need to.
To allow yourself to heal.

.

Anything at all.
And let that be your answer to the voice that said you couldn't.
