Welcome to your Imbolg Meditation.
Imbolg is traditionally celebrated in early February,
Or with the second full moon of the year.
It is a moment of awakening,
A moment of nature getting ready to break through.
All the energy that has been gathered in the roots throughout winter is about to be visible,
To become visible when breaking through the earth with the first flowers and little pieces of green appearing from the dark,
Wintry earth.
In this meditation,
You're going to feel into yourself to find this grounded,
Deep energy of winter and get ready for you to explode into spring.
To get started,
Find a comfortable position.
You can either do it sitting down or lying down,
Whatever is more comfortable for you.
To arrive in the moment,
Take a deep breath in through the nose and out through the mouth.
Let's do this one more time.
In through the nose and out through the mouth.
When you feel like you are starting to arrive in the room and you're comfortable doing it,
Close your eyes and focus inward.
Feel your breath returning to normal and moving in and out of your body.
Feel the breath deep down in your belly,
Expanding and letting go again.
We are coming from the feeling of winter groundedness.
For nature,
Winter is a time of restoring and regathering strength.
It is a moment where all the energy is stored deep down in the earth,
In the roots where they are protected from the cold of the winter.
Start feeling that energy deep down in your belly.
Feel that groundedness of your body being heavy.
The heaviness is not a heaviness of tiredness,
But a groundedness of new energy gathering.
Let your breath deepen with each breath.
Don't force it.
Just with every single breath,
See if you can make it a little bit deeper.
If you can let it stream in deep into your belly and filling your whole body from your belly over your chest and ribcage all the way up to your collarbones and letting it go again.
Feel whilst you are relaxing and giving yourself that moment of pause how the energy is building inside you.
How in those minutes of meditating deeply,
You are living your mini wintering and gathering the strength to get ready for spring,
For an explosion of energy.
Keep breathing and feeling your body.
Feel the bits of your body connecting to the earth,
No matter if it's your sit bones or your whole back and feel the earth holding you.
That earth that has gathered its energy all across winter and feel how this joint energy from all the roots that are getting ready for spring is also holding you and giving you energy.
And feel this deep connection of energy flowing from the roots and all the plants ready for spring into you and from you into all those plants ready to explode.
And take a few more breaths feeling that groundedness and the energy that comes with being deeply relaxed and grounded in the here and now.
An energy that comes when we take a moment to rest and restore and leave the chatter of the world outside.
When you can feel those groundedness,
Slowly think about being ready for spring and visualize how this energy will bubble up through you and move from the depths of your belly all the way up into your heart space,
Into your head and how this energy is going to flow out and explode.
You feel like a long good sleep,
Ready to go.
Abundance of energy has gathered and you're ready to explode.
Visualize yourself like this little green plant breaking through the dark black surface of winter earth.
Feeling the first sun of your face stretching out into the world,
Being ready.
Let this moment happen with another deep breath and visualize again how this energy is stirring in your bottom.
It's coming from deep down in your belly and is moving upwards through your chest into your head all the way to the top of your head.
And see yourself as this plant with all the energy gathered in your roots now ready to make its way through the dark wintery earth into the spring sun.
Feel that spring sun on your face having emerged from the darkness of winter and the dark earth and feel how this energy from the spring sun is connecting with your grounded winter energy and makes you feel powerful and ready to go.
Take a moment to pause here to reflect on what you want to use this energy for.
What is the thing that first comes to mind,
The thing you would like to have energy for that is important to you?
Something that sparks your energy maybe as well?
Something you're keen on getting started?
What is that thing that this abundance of spring energy is being directed at?
If you have found the thing you want to direct your energy at,
Repeat it silently to yourself three distinct times.
I'm going to use my spring energy to and repeat to yourself one more time where you want to direct this abundance of energy at.
This last couple of focused breaths,
Imagine one more time the deep grounded winter energy bubbling up from your belly across your chest up to your head,
Ready to explode into spring,
To dance in the spring sun,
To break through the earth,
Ready to go.
And with that energetic feeling fully present,
Slowly start coming back into the here and now.
Refocus purely on your breath,
Following your breath in and out of your body,
Counting 10 distinct breaths to give yourself a chance to just purely be in the here and now and conserve the energy you've just gathered through this meditation for your next steps.
And two in and out,
Three,
Six,
Seven,
Eight,
And the last breath together,
10.
Slowly start moving your toes and hands,
Open your eyes when you feel ready,
Sit up if you have been lying down,
And take one more moment to really take that feeling and the energy that you have generated through this meditation into the rest of your day.
